Zoomin' Zukes!

Get ready to play with your food, because our 12th Annual Zucchini 500 rolls into Centre Square this Saturday. It’s the one time of year when we actually condone fast food at the market!
We'll provide all the materials needed for racing - wheels, axles and carving tools, plus zucchini from Scholl Orchards and Salvaterra Gardens - all for $6. Participants also receive an official 2018 Zucchini 500 racing medallion.
Racers can start carving at 9 a.m. when the market opens, and fashion their zucchini into a sports car, midsize vehicle or monster truck. The Zucchini 500 pit crew will be on hand to offer their car-building expertise.

Racing begins at 11:00am. The event is sponsored by Flemington Car & Truck, and Nascar official Peter Brohl will run the races. The winner from each category will receive $25 in market tokens, a $15 gift certificate to Bank Street Creamery and a prize bag of goodies from the Crayola Experience and other local businesses.
There’s no age limit for this event. The only restriction is that participants must attach wheels directly to zucchini. Chassis or platforms are not permitted.
Power of Produce (POP) Club members will get a ‘free ride’ to build and race their zucchini car. And if you haven't signed your child up for the POP (Power of Produce) Club, be sure to stop by the INFO tent and find out what it's all about!

Let the Composting Begin!
Fifty more folks signed up for the Easton Compost Program last week. And on the first official weigh-in day we collected 259lbs. of food scraps!

Weigh your waste this Saturday behind the EPM, from 9am-1pm.

And remember, the person who composts the most between now and September 30th will win $100 in market tokens! But our real goal is to demonstrate that there's enough interest in community composting to work toward a door-to-door compost pick-up program in the future.

Didn't get a bucket last week? Weve got 50 more buckets ready fior pick-up tomorrow.
Stop by the EFM Info tent and find out how to be a "scrappy scrapper!"

Easton Compost Program is Sponsored by Lehigh Vallley Community Foundation.
