Back to the Future

So, we've put back the Halloween decorations.
We've turned our clocks back.
The elections are over, and the votes are in for the candidate you backed.
(A HUGE thank you to everyone who voted for me in Oneonta's 8th Ward Council race!)
And we're getting back to our daily routines.

Well, rest up while you can.
Because the Holidays are Coming!

We have a quiet weekend's entertainment calendar, but in the next few weeks it'll explode with a feast of seasonal treats.

And, in this, our Sweet Home takes a back seat to nobody.

The holiday fun is just around the corner.
So get ready.

Enjoy the weekend.
Take a moment to appreciate the sacrifices made by those who've served on Monday, Veterans Day.
and...
We'll see you back here next Thursday.

The Met Opera Live in HD: Madame Butterfly (Puccini)
World premiere: Teatro alla Scala, Milan, 1904. Met premiere: February 11, 1907. The title character of Madama Butterfly-a young Japanese geisha who clings to the belief that her arrangement with a visiting American naval officer is a loving and permanent marriage-is one of the defining roles in opera. The story triggers ideas about cultural and sexual imperialism for people far removed from the opera house, and film, Broadway, and popular culture in general have riffed endlessly on it. The lyric beauty of Puccini's score, especially the music for the thoroughly believable lead role, has made Butterfly timeless.
