Grace and Peace! In the month of October, we begin to turn our attention to the celebration of our church's 60th Anniversary. For SIXTY years, God has remained faithful to us as a family of faith! To commemorate this joyous occasion, we will be having a banquet at The Chateau Banquet Center in Merrillville on November 14th at 6pm. Dr. Ray A.L. Coleman, Jr. will be our guest for the banquet, as well as Sunday, November 13th. Banquet tickets are $40 and can be purchased by contacting Sis. Shanta Mack. Additionally, we will be compiling a Commemorative Ad book. We are asking all who will to purchase an Ad. The Ad prices are as follows:

Back Outside Cover - $200

Front Inside Cover - $150

Back Inside Cover - $150

Full Page - $100

I look forward to serving with you this month, not only in Gary, but also in Hammond and Indianapolis, IN. God has blessed our ministry to be a blessing to others, and for that, I THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS, SUPPORT, AND PARTICIPATION in this ministry partnership!

The Member Spotlight for the month of September is Sis. Shanta Mack!

"But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect", I Corinthians 15:10

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation had come: The old has gone, the new is here!" II Corinthians 5:17

Of the many scriptures Sis Shanta Mack relies on, these are two of her favorite scriptures because they remind her that without God's grace and mercy, she is nothing. They remind her that she is a new creature because of Christ and all old things are passed away. Sis. Mack is the owner of Infinite Accounting & Taxes, LLC where she focuses on individual and business income taxes, bookkeeping, and financial and organizational strategic planning for her clients. She works at Steel City Academy, Inc. as the Director of Finance and Human Resources. Sis Mack is active within the Christian Education and SASSY Ministries here at Sweet Home.  She serves as the Financial Secretary for the Indiana Brotherhood Missionary Baptist District Association, a teacher of 13 years in the National Congress, and the Elections Chair for Gary Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. A lover of education, Sis Mack has matriculated to earn her Master's of Business Administration, Master's of Human Resource Management, and Master's of Accounting and Finance.

Sis Mack is married to Pastor Mack, and is happy to have their son Rashawn, her mother, Cathy, and her sister, Yolanda, as members of Sweet Home. When asked what keeps her going, Sis Mack responded by proclaiming that it is her relationship with God because it's only by His grace. When she has an opportunity to talk to young women, Sis Mack always encourages them to have a personal relationship with the Lord, to know themselves and to always live life in Christ to the fullest. She encourages them to always reach for the sky as only God has the power to say, "No!" and when he says no it's because He has something better.

Sis. Mack is happy to be a part of the Sweet Home family and is ecstatically anticipating what God has in store for us!!

Since October is Clergy Appreciation Month, we are highlighting the Ministerial Staff here at Sweet Home.

Rev. Beauty Ervin, Rev. Johnny Henderson, Min. Gwen Cooper, Min. Stephanie Harden, and Rev. Reginald Paige all work in various areas of the church, assisting our Pastor and congregation in numerous ways. Often, this group is overlooked and underappreciated for the contributions they make to the Kingdom as a whole, so we want to let them know that we love them, honor them, and thank God for them!

Sweet Home Community News - October 2022

Greetings in the Name of Jesus our Christ to the Sweet Home family - in-house & virtual!

Once again God has favored us to see nine months into 2022! Hallelujah!! We are moving forward with activities in the Youth Church-At-Study, as well as rebuilding the youth ministry.

We are asking everyone who can to invite the youth in your families to church, where we are teaching children of all ages to read the bible, and how to use the bible.

Yours for the Cause of Christ,
