Hello Everyone!
It’s the first of December, can you believe it?! Please tell me I’m not the only one who does not have Christmas decorations up or have even thought about doing any shopping. The shop is decorated but my house, not so much. I really looked forward to decorating the new shop this year, I’m talking - planning where greenery would go around the classroom window back in July before the window was even put in! Rob would just roll his eyes when I started preplanning the Christmas decorating in July. I have always loved decorating, to me it’s one of the best parts of the holiday season and gets me in the holiday mood. I think I get my love of decorating from my mom. She always painstakingly laid tinsel on tree branches and her packages are always perfectly wrapped with handmade bows. My love of baking cookies for Christmas came from my grandmother. She always had us up to our elbows in flour making sugar cookies and gingerbread. I still make all of her recipes every year for family and friends. I think the very best part of Christmas this year will be the fact that all of my children will be home and Rob and I will take some time off to be with them. I am so looking forward to seeing them. Don’t worry the shop will still be open. We know quilting never takes a holiday.
While we look forward to the upcoming holidays we are already planning for the new year in the shop. We will have new classes and clubs brewing for January, Our Super Bowl Pre-game Mystery Party will be held at the shop in person this year, February 13. Don’t worry we will be sure to let you know when sign ups begin. We have a new block of the month from Wilmington Fabrics starting in March and there will be ten spots open. We have some fun things planned for 2022 that will be revealed in the First Friday Demonstration Day Video that will come out this Friday, December 3. Our theme for Demo Day will be Cut. Sew. Press. Repeat. and it will be full of tips, techniques and projects. I will also share some great gift ideas to go along with the theme that you can put on your wish list for Santa.
We are excited about what's to come but we don’t want to rush into the New Year too fast. Let’s take time to deck the halls, savor the season, and enjoy time with Family & Friends while holding dear our loved ones who will be so missed this holiday season.
From everyone at Sweet Stitches Quilt Shop we wish you a Merry Christmas and Health & Happiness in the New Year.
May All your Stitches be Sweet,
Joan

Hello Accuquilters!
What a year or a few its been with Accuquilt! When we turned the corner into 2021, Darla was hard at work coming up with project ideas and preparing for yet another video release in order to supply our Accuquilters with inspiration while they were stuck at home. For almost an entire year, Accuquilt Go Play Day! was delivered to our Accuquilt owners' inbox. If you would have told us that we would have needed camera's, lights, editing software and a YouTube Channel we would not have believed you!
We have had a few months now with our in person Go Play Day! and it has been nice to see everyone in the classroom!
For December, Darla plans to take a break from Go! Play Day! but rest assured she is already planning for January and the 2022 Project(s), stay tuned.

General Maintenance and proper technique are critical for optimum performance of your sewing machine and project outcome.
What I have come to appreciate...
It's far past the point of losing track of just how many sewing machines have crossed the workbench. Lets just say more than quite a few. And yes, fixing a mechanical device can be challenging, interesting and even rewarding, yet, what I've come to appreciate is the place these machines hold in many hearts. "This was my Grandmother's and she made her and my Mom's wedding dress on this machine". "My Great Aunt made all of our clothes on this machine", "I remember my Mother working away on this machine making quilts", "How long will this take? I don't know what I will do without my machine!".
You just don't hear things like this about other household appliances. I've wondered a few times, as a machine sits on the bench, the vacuum whirling about to remove all of the thread and fabric lint, what did this machine make? Was it a Wedding Dress, Baby Quilt, Doll Clothes, a table cover, or a favorite Halloween outfit? Sewing machines are special, they help create and what they create is very often memories.
PS - Yes it is true, Joan did preplan the locations of Christmas decorations, in July.
