Mackinac Island Recap

Our trip to Mackinac Island started with a tour of Notre Dame University while en route to the island. It's a beautiful campus which included viewing the Basilica. We then headed to Frankenmuth, MI for a city tour of this German
village. We took a ferry to Mackinac Island as there are no mo tor vehicles on t his island. Our lodging was The Grand Hotel for two nights where we enjoyed the excellent food and ambience. Many flowers were in bloom and the island was just beautiful! Our trip ended by coming home through Holland, MI, where we were entertained by wooden shoe dancers - we joined in and one of our members even tried the wooden shoes!

Annual Social Event - Picnic in the Park

Rain held off as we enjoyed our annual social event at the Guthrie Center Park on June 19. There was a good turnout and it was a beautiful evening. The picnic was a change from our previous annual social events held in the October/November timeframe. Many enjoyed this change in venue and season as farmers and snowbirds were able to join us. Games were played and good picnic food was enjoyed!
carol"I will not hesitate to take another trip with the Heritage Club!"

Carol Hansen shared her thoughts about our Mystery Trip to eastern Iowa.

"My sister thoroughly enjoyed the mystery trip last year, so when she invited me to go with her this year, I was apprehensive but curious about what it entailed. Never did I think we could fit so much into one day. Kim and Vicki made the whole 4-day experience very informative and interesting. We headed to northeastern Iowa and did tours of places you would never think of going to on your own. Heading down the swollen Mississippi River was very relaxing, but playing ball on the "Field of Dreams" was my favorite event even though I lost an earring there while running the bases! I will not hesitate to take another trip with the GCSB Heritage Club in the future. Next time, however, I will have my husband, Randy, as my roommate! Thanks for the memories!"

Thank you for sharing your experience, Carol!

The mystery trip took us eastward!

Our annual Mystery Trip from May 6 - 9 was a success! We joined Renee Lane and the travelers from Security State Bank of Farnhamville for a four-day, three-night excursion.
We enjoyed many interesting stops each day as we traveled northeast to Dubuque and back. Some of the highlights were: Field of Dreams where we played baseball with the ghost, seeing the 1,500 sets of salt and pepper shakers at the Traer Salt and Pepper Shaker Gallery,  as well as listening to individuals who impersonated Grant Wood and Mae Capone and spoke in first person. We also had many other stops. It was a wonderful trip and good food was enjoyed often! Read about Carol Hansen's thoughts about our trip in her testimonial.
