Last year, at this time, we were preparing for the first of many social-distanced, virtual holidays: Passover. We worried if our traditions and connection with family would be compromised by a virtual format. Some of us resented the sacrifices we had to make to keep family and friends, young and old, healthy and safe.

But, as many of us have discovered this past year, enduring certain hardships can activate and strengthen our resolve and resilience. As Passover teaches us, there are ways to sweeten our bitter herbs...and when you need help finding that sweetness, JFS is here to help.

JFS sends our wishes for a Happy (and healthy) Passover.
The Bitter Herbs of Life:
How enduring hardships can help you appreciate the finer things.

The Passover story devotes long passages to descriptions of the Jews’ slavery and suffering in Egypt, and while it’s by no means the same, 2020 left many of us suffering too. Between the global pandemic, unemployment highs, social unrest, and political events, it may feel like the past year has left us little to celebrate. But, at its roots, the story of Passover is one of salvation and freedom . . .
