This Friday is our final episode celebrating the Rez Bluez 25th Anniversary! We have been airing pre-recorded performances every Friday since September from across Canada including Vancouver, Saskatchewan, Six Nations and Toronto, and it has been an amazing journey!

This past Saturday, musician and professor Adam Gussow (of blues duo Satan and Adam) and Toronto-based blues musician (guitarist & harmonica player), and professor Sugar Brown aka Ken Kawashima got together virtually to discuss the blues for the new millennium around the newly published book, "Whose Blues? Facing Up to Race and the Future of the Music". Toronto-based journalist and radio producer Norman Otis Richmondlong-time Rez Bluez producer Elaine Bomberry, and musician Julian Taylor joined the conversation as special guests!

Toronto Blues Society's annual national awards show Maple Blues Awards is going virtual on its next edition from 4 different cities! A bundle of awards will be announced next to some exciting performances from Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Vancouver each Monday of February! We are launching with a stream from Toronto on Monday, Feb 1st. Mark your calendar now for Mon, Feb 8, 15, and 22 as well.

The RBC Launchpad Music Entrepreneurship Program aims to support local emerging artists, music creators, & entrepreneurs through an educational and networking platform that will deepen their understanding of how to develop initiatives in a sustainable & profitable way. All individuals w/ little to no publication in mainstream media, between the ages of 18-35, a practicing artist, music creator, or entrepreneur eager to hone their craft are welcome to apply until Nov 22nd. Celebrating Jackie Washington's 101st Birthday
Home County Music and Arts Festival has put together a show/workshop last week on November 12th in memory of Jackie Washington, which would have been his 101st birthday. The show is now available to watch on YouTube (or click above) and features a handful of family and friends including Ken, Ben, and Jesse Whiteley, Cathy Fink, Marcy Marxer, Colin Linden, and Caitlin Hanford.

  • US based Can't Stop the Blues Facebook group is featuring 1-2 blues shows each night, 9pm-11pm eastern, with fresh pre-recorded content direct from the artists’ homes.

  • Adam Ndaro Solomon is doing a live stream blending blues and world music from his apartment nearly every day. Check out his Facebook account to catch one of the videos and keep in touch.

  • Delta Blues Museum's new virtual tours, "The Land Where Blues Began", feature Clarksdale musicians Lee Williams, Terry "Big T" Williams, and James "Super Chikan" Johnson as your personal tour guides through the gallery, telling stories of the Blues artists that influenced these local musicians personally and shaped their professional careers.
