Only an April fool would bypass this cardiac event as Rhythmic Heart pumps out chamber music to raise your blood pressure. Calling arresting contras worthy of a coronary, Pacemaker Don will lead us in the systolic stomp. Don’t let your life be in vein, come hear the murmur of the crowd and join the fibrillation.

Don Flaherty

We are happy to welcome back Don Flaherty, one of the founders of Swingin’ Tern Dances. Don is well-known for his prolific creation of new contra dances. His dances are called by dozens of callers across the country. Don is sure to keep us moving with his gems that have become part of the contra tradition along with a debut or two of his freshly choreographed dances.

Rhythmic Heart

Not one to skip a beat, Rhythmic Heart mixes old-timey, jazz, Celtic, and New England traditional tunes with occasional notes of new age and rock. Rhythmic Heart features Anna Bosnick on fiddle, Norma Castle on flute and percussion, Doug Healy on banjo and guitar, and Robin Russell on keyboard.

Bringing Back the Baked Goods

In an effort to make our dances more tasty, we welcome the return of home-baked goods to share at the break—contributions are welcome! Please bring your own labeled water bottle which can be refilled at the kitchen sink.

Updated Covid Policy

Proof of Covid Vaccination and Masking is no longer required.

New Covid Admissions have dropped over 80% since January placing Morris County solidly in the Green level. As long as Morris County remains at the current Green/Low [or Yellow/Moderate] case level, we will no longer be checking vaccination status. Although vaccines are recommended, they are no longer required. Masks are optional in all dance lines.

When Morris Country is at the Orange/High level, proof of vaccination and masks [N/K95 or surgical] will be required.

The current level for Morris County will be posted by 8pm on the Thursday before each dance at https://www.cdc.gov/.../201.../science/community-levels.html

Our Dance Home in Chatham

Everyone loves our new home in Chatham. The hall has a lovely wood floor with excellent ventilation with windows on all four sides.

St Pauls enter park.jpg

We moved into our new home this past May at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 200 Main Street, Chatham, NJ. Enter from Main Street and park behind the church. Return under the portico and enter up the wide steps. There 15 restaurants within two blocks of the dance on Main Street: Indian, Italian, Pakistani, Chinese, Malaysian, Mexican, and American cuisines.

The view from the parking lot behind the church. Walk back to left for the main dance hall entrance. An elevator is available if needed through the door shown in this picture. 50 parking spaces are available in the church lot. A municipal lot may be accessed from Bowers Lane directly across Main Street from the church. The large train station parking lot is two blocks away. Street parking is available.
Large windows are on all four sides of the dance hall providing excellent ventilation. Air conditioning will be available for the summer.

The wood floor is well-worn with great percussive qualities! Raise the roof with those balances! The kitchen, bathrooms, large foyer, and terrace are just off the dance floor.
