Hunger & Homelessness Weekly Update
DUE TO THE OMICRON VARIANT CASELOAD SURGE WE ARE MOVING FROM AN IN-PERSON FOOD TAX RALLY TO A VIRTUAL ONE
With soaring COVI-19 caseloads in Utah it no longer seems wise to organize an in-person rally supporting the elimination of the sales tax on food. That does not mean we are giving up on eliminating this unfair and unpopular tax.

Our plan now is to collect as many pictures as we can of Utahns showing their support for legislation to eliminate the sales tax on food. We will be releasing all of these photographs at once on January 20, 2022, at 11:00 AM. If you know people who are willing to write a message on a paper plate and have their picture taken send the photos to [email protected] before noon on January 19th and then help share your photo, and those of your friends, on social media the next day.

It may not be safe to gather in person but we still can make it clear how unpopular the sales tax on food is to ordinary Utahns.
The Coalition of Religious Communities brings people from a variety of different backgrounds together to reduce hunger and homelessness in Utah.
