The Fire Department offers the following outdoor heating safety tips.

-Outdoor rated, tested/approved by UL or CSA and equipped with tip-over switches and/or automatic shutoffs

-Electric instead of gas when used under awnings or overhangs

-Placed outside on stable, level ground with a 3-foot safety zone around it
