Christmas started early for me this year.

My harp student Charlotte Turner is one of my best friends. She is a woman of many talents. She helped me proof my website when I upgraded it in 2020 and also edits these newsletters every month. She has recently inspired several women to take up the harp, and her new ensemble spreads harp joy in her Arkansas town.

Besides playing the harp, she is also a wizard at using her embroidery machine. She has created some of the BEST gifts I've ever received. A few weeks ago, she sent me this adorable 10" train featuring my favorite characters. "Santa Pooh" is sitting on top of the engine, and Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore are looking out of the windows. The train says "Harp Center Express" on both sides, features a beautiful Celtic harp and a Christmas wreath on the front, and has poinsettia wheels. This train makes me smile and gets me into the Christmas spirit. I hope it will do the same for you!

Thank you, Charlotte, for everything you do for me. Pooh and I hope that you (and all of my readers) have a very, very merry Christmas!

In my October newsletter, I reminisced about the concerts we held at our store in Glendale, California, from 1994 to 2003. I purposely left out our Christmas concerts, planning to feature them this month.

From 1995 to 2011, we presented Christmas Carol Sing-Along with Harps Concerts every December. Paul Baker and I played harps, and Deborah Friou joined us for the first three years. My brother Don Snyder was the host and led the singing. The evening was filled with audience sing-along carols, harp solos and duets, and even some fun games. In this photo, we are wearing silly reindeer antlers in honor of "Rudolph."

After I moved to Hawaii in 2013, I missed giving these fun Christmas concerts. I contacted pedal harpist Madeleine Brandli who lived part-time on Kauai, to see if she would be willing to join me. We presented Christmas Carol Sing-Along with Harps concerts at two Kauai churches each December from 2015 to 2018. Retired pastor and Irish musician Bob Smith led the singing and accompanied some of the carols on his concertina. This photo is from 2017.
