I've been feeling nostalgic lately. Last month, I announced the 30th anniversary of my first harp store in Glendale, California. While searching for opening day photos, I found a few pictures of harpists who gave concerts and workshops at the store. During our 15 years at that location, we presented events on 91 weekends! Often, performers presented Saturday and Sunday night concerts and a Sunday afternoon harp workshop. Louise Trotter, shown here, gave concerts and workshops in 1994 and 2003.

This month's sale features one PDF each from 15 harpists who performed at our store. And so, even if you couldn't attend one of their concerts, you can still enjoy their music. (See the Sale selection below for the selected PDFs.)

Preparing for our store concerts was quite an ordeal. First, we moved about 50 harps from the showroom back to the shipping and packing room. Then we set up 80 folding chairs, a small riser stage, and a refreshment table. At the end of the weekend, we reversed the process to prepare the store for Tuesday morning's store customers.

Our first event was an afternoon harp workshop with Canadian harpist and singer Loreena McKennitt before her evening concert at UCLA on November 15, 1992.

During the next 15 years, we presented events on 91 weekends. Performers included: Nancy Allen, Anderson & Brown, Lori Andrews. Paul Baker, Patrick Ball, Dale Barco, Robin Huw Bowen, Stanley Chaloupka, Ellie Choate, Lisa Lynne Franco, Aryeh Frankfurter, Deborah Friou, Harvi Griffin, Grainne Hambly, Janet Harbison, Deborah Henson-Conant, Ann and Charlie Heymann, Sue Hoadley, David Ice, William Jackson, Sian James, Beth Kolle, Margot Krimmel, Beth Leachman, Magical Strings, Michael MacBean, Loreena McKennitt, LouAnne Neill, Máire Ní Chathasaigh, Rüdiger Oppermann, Alfredo Rolando Ortiz, Sue Richards, Laurie Riley, Kim Robertson, Michael Rooney, Sunita Staneslow, Park Stickney, Louise Trotter, and Sylvia Woods.

Of course, I periodically gave concerts and workshops at my store.

I have always ended my concerts by singing my silly song Harpers Are Not Bizarre. I shoot an arrow from the strings of my harp in the last verse. In this photo, I'm wearing the angel wings I sold in my catalog in the late 1990s.

Patrick Ball's harp and storytelling concerts were our most popular. He performed twenty sold-out concerts from 1993 to 2006. Unfortunately, I can't find any photos of his events.

Kim Robertson presented seven weekends of concerts and workshops starting in 1992. She performed our final show on November 17, 2007.

I am proud to have provided a performance venue for so many amazing harpists to share their gifts and their music with appreciative audiences over the years.
