Northwestern University Symphonic Wind Ensemble's
rising
Under Consideration for a Grammy Nomination

Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music and its Symphonic Wind Ensemble, conducted by Mallory Thompson, have trained some of the best and brightest young professional musicians performing today. Former members of the ensemble have gone on to careers with the New York Philharmonic; the symphony orchestras of Boston, Atlanta, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Houston, St. Louis, Cleveland, Seattle, Tucson, and Hong Kong; the United States Air Force, Marine, Navy, and Army Field bands; and contemporary ensembles such as eighth blackbird and ICE.

The Symphonic Wind Ensemble has now reached a new milestone: its recent release on the Summit Records label, rising (Summit Records DCD 580), is under consideration for a GRAMMY Award nomination in the classical field. We invite you to listen to the Symphonic Wind Ensemble's artistry and energy in works by David Maslanka and GRAMMY winners Aaron Copland, Eric Whitacre, and Joseph Schwantner.
