2018 MISSION SUPPORT
LAST WEEK FOR CONGREGATIONS TO MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS
The mission support of our congregations makes it possible for us to walk together with others in the mission and ministry of the Metropolitan New York Synod and to support ministries of the ELCA.
All mission support for the fiscal year 2018 (ending on January 31, 2019), should be received in the synod office by
THIS THURSDAY, February 7
.
In
2019
, the
Metropolitan New York Synod will send 52%
of what is received for mission support to the ELCA Churchwide administration in Chicago, which supports new congregations, missionaries, seminaries, colleges, universities, campus ministries, early childhood centers, elementary schools, outdoor ministries, social ministry organizations, advocacy, and community development on a national scale.
Partnership dollars come back to synods and congregations from the ELCA
via grants, services, programs, staff, and resources. All mission support, including subsidized congregations, is a sign of our partnership in the Gospel.
In addition to helping us stay connected, completing this form makes your congregation eligible for synod grants.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT GRANTS
We’re making available
$150,000 every year in
Leadership Development Grants for individuals to gain new skills for ministry in our changing world. The
Leadership Development Grant, funded by our Strategic Plan, provides a special focus on supporting programs that will specifically nurture education, training, and formation for leadership skills and qualities that complement the aims of the Claimed, Gathered, and Sent Strategies.
Each year, we ask our ELCA rostered ministers to take the time to complete a report to the bishop, looking back on their life and ministry. Submit this confidential report before
February 15
.
In addition to helping us stay connected, completing this form makes you eligible for synod grants.
*Save it as a document on your desktop and print a copy for your files. Submit as an attachment to
[email protected]
or mail a hard copy to the Synod office.
