Southwest California Synod
Assembly Worship
Sunday June 6, 2021
In conjunction with our online synod assembly this year, online worship service will be made available to all congregations in the synod for Sunday, June 6 - the Second Sunday after Pentecost.

This service will continue the assembly theme "For Such a Time As This," and will highlight the challenges and opportunities facing the church at this time.

Worship will include the celebration of the 50/40/10 anniversaries of the first woman and first woman of color ordained in a Lutheran body in the US, and the removal of barriers to LGBTQ+ clergy serving in the church.
Guest Preacher: The Rev. Tuhina Verma Rasche
Pastor Tuhina (she/her/hers) has a complicated relationship with Jesus. She lives a hyphenated life as a second-generation Indian-American raised in a devout Hindu household.

She is an ordained minister of Word and Sacrament in the ELCA and currently serves as the Digital Campus Pastor at University AME Zion Church in Palo Alto through a specialized call with the Sierra Pacific Synod. She is also the Young Adult Coordinator for Arts, Religion, & Culture. She has written and spoken extensively on identities within faith spaces and integrating spiritual practices within the self.
The full worship service and other digital resources will be available for download prior to the start of the assembly. Check your email and the synod website for more details!
