Ash Wednesday Prayer
Loving God of all Creation, we ask that you open our narrow hearts to receive and accept your ways and your thoughts. Help us to build bridges to a world that cares for the outsider, the sick, and the poor. Teach us to transcend our petty needs, and to love you, our neighbors, and those who are different. Free us to enter and enjoy a new heart and a new mind, filled with love and goodness as you draw us ever more closely to you. Show us the way, as we walk with you to the cross of Jesus Christ. Amen.

First Presbyterian Church in St. Marys, GA has reinvented their "The Church Has Left the Building" mission.
Lisa Yackel, Mission Chair, shared that they wanted to help food insecure people in their area and have really ramped up their tiny food pantry. Working in partnership with Second Harvest's Market Place in Brunswick, they are able to purchase food for the pantry at .19 cents a pound to stock the pantry daily. When SNAP benefits were interrupted, their team became concerned that the tiny pantry would not be able to keep up with the need. However, they saw an increase in food donations from the community to offset that increased need. What a blessing! Lisa also shared that First St. Marys earmarks 10% of their total budget for Missions and they hold intergenerational activities focused on Missions.

Religious Trauma Presentation at Vanderbilt Church
As part of the James Craig Education Series, Dr. Danjuma Gibson will be presenting “Religious Violence, Spiritual Abuse and Trauma, and the Journey Towards the Beloved Community” at Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church in Naples, FL on Saturday, February 21.
Dr. Danjuma Gibson is professor of Practical Theology and Psychology at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. This free event will have two hour-long sessions and a half-hour break with refreshments in between. Click HERE for more information.

For more than four centuries, African American music has shaped the cultural and spiritual life of America. From fields and plantations to sanctuaries and concert halls, its rhythms, harmonies, and melodies have expressed struggle, faith, protest, joy, and hope. This event will trace the powerful evolution of musical traditions rooted in the Black church, highlighting its essential role in preserving heritage, shaping community, and inspiring generations. Through lecture and music, the audience will experience a story that is profoundly American and worthy of celebration.
Parking can easily be found one block away at the Washington Memorial Library, 1180 Washington Avenue.

There is a new support group meeting out of Maitland Presbyterian Church (Presbytery of Central Florida) beginning at the end of February. This group is focused on the LGBTQ+ community and any other people who have experienced hurt and trauma from the church. | | |

Revolutionary solutions flowed from their steadfast hearts, as they proclaimed healing, offered prophetic words, and tended the wounded with compassion. Through faith and holy boldness, they became bearers of hope in perilous days. Voices you will hear are Rev. Shannon Kershner, Rev. Khailia Williams, Rev. Anna Trayum, and Rev. CeCe Armstrong, co-moderator of the 226th General Assembly (2024) of PCUSA.
