Over the past several days, we have been seeing more conversation about what to call manmade, created diamonds so they can be discussed clearly with consumers.
It would be nice if the industry could settle and be less confused.
However, just yesterday, I was presented with a white paper from a big box firm explaining to their audience that “A lab-created diamond is not ‘synthetic’.

108 carat fancy intense pink |
On March 23, 2023, a spectacular 108 carat pink diamond was recovered at the Kao Mine, located near Kao, Lesotho.
Storm Mountain Diamonds (Pty) Ltd announced the recovery with the diamond weight at 108.39 cts.
"This exceptionally rare Type IIa gemstone is one of the largest pink diamonds in history to have been recovered."

Freddie Mercury's Crown up for Auction

Born in 1946, Frederick Bulsara, in Zanzibar, he moved to London with his family in 1959.
Freddie Mercury, the powerful and flamboyant lead singer of the band Queen, died in 1991 at his home in Kensington at the age of 45.
Under his leadership, the hard-rock, pop, heavy-metal, rock-group recorded super hits like "Bohemian Rhapsody," "We Are the Champions," "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," and "Another One Bites The Dust."
Mercury was an avid collector and loved Sotheby's. Now his personal affects go on the block.

This time, our queen is actress Elizabeth Taylor, talking about her royal collection of jewels.
They are famous, and extraordinary!

Two books - one thriller, one true life
|
|
The Chatham Legacy, an American Story, written by Tom Chatham, is the history of Chatham Created gemstones, their discoveries, successes, and their legal battles with the FTC.
The book describes three generations of Chatham’s and their role in what became a revolution in the jewelry industry – the secret of growing emeralds inside a laboratory. Carroll Chatham’s discovery followed by Tom Chatham’s business sense, set the precedence early in the laboratory grown movement.
Tom takes the reader through a colorful journey of innovation in the early years of the 20th century and how a boy’s love of chemistry became a family’s legacy. Carroll’s scientific discoveries were groundbreaking at the time. Rules and regulations did not yet exist, at least not to the standard it is today. Consequently, the Federal Trade Commission was not prepared to define the proper terminology for this conception. Thus, Chatham took the FTC to court in Washington, D.C. in a battle that lasted 3 years to rightfully name his incredible emerald creations.
