BE A COFFEE BEAN
By: Scott Droddy, BAS - TAA DIRECTOR
The auction business, like life, can be stressful and difficult. There are many ups and downs, and changing practices and outcomes. Buyer’s premium, online, simulcast, live, client acquisition, and the list goes on. The challenges of this business, no matter if it is benefits, autos, personal property, or any other sector, cause many who enter the business to give up. It can test anyone’s resolve. It can weaken, harden, or change you. When faced with the many challenges it can seem like a pot of boiling water. There is a story about the carrot, the egg, and the coffee bean. These things are very different and react to the boiling water in different ways. The carrot starts hard and strong, but the boiling water weakens it and it becomes soft. The egg is fragile, but the water hardens the inside and it becomes hard. The coffee bean changes the water that surrounds it and becomes coffee. Be like a coffee bean and use your power to change the challenges you face into positive outcomes for you, your business, and your clients! #BeACoffeeBean

TAA TASK FORCE SENDS RESPONSE BY TDLR DEADLINE ON SUNSET REVIEW
The TAA Task Force has been working on a reply to TDLR in reference to their agency Sunset Review and possible auctioneer license review. A member survey, email, conference calls and meeting with TAA Board of Directors all have taken place in the last 2 months.

Thank you to Chairman Jim Swigert for reviewing all member comments sent, as well as task force comments and edits. After much work and review of the governors' office articles and threats to de-regulate, a letter was sent in by the deadline to TDLR. Public comment can be made on the TDLR site under Sunset Review. The review will take place over the next months, and any suggestions or changes will then go to the 2021 Texas Legislative Session.  BE SURE TO SUPPORT your local legislators this year!
