COUNTING THE OMER 5782
Now through June 2, Every night except Shabbat and Festivals, on Zoom
Beginning at 8:45 pm through May 7 (22nd day) 9:15 pm thereafter

We are continuing our tradition of gathering on Zoom to count together each evening (except Fridays), gathering for 10 minutes to hear a song, a poem or reflection, say the blessing and count the day.

VOLUNTEER FOR SCHOONER ADVENTURE

Have you heard? TAA member Stuart Siegel is the new Executive Director at Schooner Adventure.
He is hoping to recruit some energetic congregants to volunteer on deck and dockside this summer as docents and educators. No prior experience or knowledge necessary. This is a great opportunity to sail aboard a 95-year old original Gloucester fishing schooner! Contact Stuart to volunteer and learn more about Schooner Adventure.
ISRAELI DANCING RETURNS TO TAA!
Mondays, 10 to 11 am

There will be in-person dancing next Monday 5/16 10 to 11 am for people who are Fully Vaccinated (2 vaccines plus booster). Please pre-register by sending proof of vaccination to Beth before 9:30 am Monday morning or bring it with you.

Doors will be open to the outside for fresh air ventilation and dancers are asked to wear N95 or KN95 masks while dancing for now. Don't forget water bottles, supportive footwear and dress in layers.

 Note: No dancing on Mondays 5/23 and 5/31. An alternate morning session TBD and emailed to all pre-registered dancers next week. If there's enough interest, a weekly Zoom Dance session will be offered in addition to weekly in-person dancing. Please email Beth with your best mornings if interested!

POP UP CHOIR!

TAA’s “pop up choir” will be meeting again this spring! We will be working on our Kabbalat Shabbat repertoire along with a special surprise. Rehearsals are April 27, May 11, May 18, June 1 and June 8 at 7:00. Please spread the word and let Susan Federspiel know if you’d like to join us or have any questions. It will be wonderful to sing together again!
HONORING RABBI LEWIS: SAVE THE DATES

Plans are underway to honor Rabbi Lewis as he leaves our pulpit in June. Details will follow, but please save the dates in the meantime.
Friday, June 3rd - Kabbalat Shabbat with the Ale Brider Band and Abigale Reisman. Oneg to follow.
Saturday, June 11th - Shabbat Morning Service where we will share stories and blessings.  Rabbi Sharon Cohen Anisfeld, President of Hebrew College and Rabbi Lewis's teacher, will speak. Members of the congregation will share reflections and blessings for Rabbi Lewis. Kiddush to follow.
Sunday, June 12th - Midday outdoor event for all ages with games, activities, lunch and a skit by our very own TAA Players.
Of course, all plans are subject to COVID protocols as they stand on the dates of these events. If you want to help out in planning, please contact Marilyn Kramer.  Looking forward to what will be a memorable occasion for Rabbi Lewis and his family as well as our congregation.

COMMUNITY CORNER
The Relational Judaism Team is trying something new! The Community Corner is another way to connect our TAA members to meet and share common interests or learn something new. Postings of The Community Corner will be in the TAA newsletter. You may join one of the posted activities or lead one yourself. 
What are the guidelines?
  • No solicitations or posts for monetary gain.
  • Call the Temple office (978-281-0739) or look at the calendar on the TAA website to make sure your event does not conflict with a Jewish holiday or any Temple-wide event.
  • You will have the responsibility to organize and communicate with your event attendees.
  • Submit the information about your event or questions along with your contact information to David Russman and Ruth Budelmann
  • Once your event has been posted in the newsletter, members with interest will reach out to you directly.
  • Contact any member of the RJT Team with questions: Sue Adams, Ruth Budelmann, Ellen Gradwohl, Sara Roizen, David Russman, Sam Silverman

GET INVOLVED WITH TAA
The Mt. Jacob Cemetery Committee is looking to increase its pool of volunteers who lovingly assist in laying to rest community members who leave our midst. Because this mitzvah necessarily must be performed on short notice, we need a large reserve of potential helpers who can assist on any given day.
