MEET THE BOARD: TARA MCGUIRE
How long have you been playing tennis, and what got you started? I started playing tennis at age 5 with my dad. I come from a family of many tennis players, so it seemed like a natural thing to learn at an early age.

What is your favorite league to play in and why? While I enjoy them all, my favorite leagues are anything involving singles play - Adult, Fun and Fall Leagues. When I have time, I also really like to play in tennis tournaments throughout Kentucky and in West Virginia where I get to play against and meet players from other areas.

What do you enjoy/look forward to about volunteering for TACK?
I played on the USTA Leagues for a couple years after playing on Transylvania University's Team, but after my USTA Adult League Team decided not to play anymore, I didn't know at the time how to find a new team to join or about other local play opportunities. It took me nine years to come back to the sport when a local player I met through a mutual friend of a friend invited me to join her team. In my nine short months as a TACK Local League Coordinator I have already had the opportunity to get to know so many local players - new and current, and help them find teams and explore play opportunities to fit their needs. It is very important to me to help those who want to play find the opportunity to do so.

I also admire the dedication and friendly competitive spirit from our team captains and volunteers. We truly have a great tennis community here in Central Kentucky, and I'm happy to be part of it. I also enjoy volunteering on two USTA Kentucky Committees - Marketing and Community Development; and love supporting efforts to grow tennis statewide.

If you could attend one of the four grand slams, which would you choose, and why? I would attend Wimbledon for it's rich history as the oldest of the grand slam tournaments.
"Don't just watch tennis, experience it!"
