How long have you been playing tennis, and what got you started?
My start in tennis came as a result of chasing a girl my junior year of high school. She wanted to play, which naturally meant I was supposed to play, too. Funny thing though - she has not played since we graduated, and I've gone all in.
What is your favorite league to play in and why? (Adult, Combo, Mixed etc.)
Anyone who knows me relatively well could answer this on my behalf - ADULT LEAGUE! I am actually not the biggest fan of doubles, so I welcome the opportunity for singles competition. I also have an indescribable bond with my adult league team and look forward to each season...even if I want to hurt them all sometimes. :-D
What do you enjoy/look forward to about volunteering for TACK?
I enjoy looking for new opportunity to bring the joy of tennis to everyone. Knowing that my voice counts for something is a nice feeling at the end of the day. We have an amazing sport and as I started playing more I never thought I would have an opportunity to serve. I look forward to changes and the new people that are getting involved in tennis volunteering.
If you could attend one of the four grand slams, which would you choose, and why?
Wimbledon. Why? Multiple reasons: 1) I've never been; 2) The tradition and atmosphere are contagious even from just watching on tv; 3) I'm a HUGE Venus Williams fan, and it is the slam she's won the most, so I feel oddly connected; 4) Opposites attract: My game would NOT translate well on grass, so I enjoy watching the pros crush it; 5) I want to experience breakfast at Wimbledon live
If you could be any piece of household furniture, what would you be, and why?
I blame the current TACK VP for making me think of an answer to this question! I actually cheated a little and had a friend who manages a furniture store help me with this...Final answer: An accent chair. Accent chairs have a role beyond function. Of course they offer a great place in which to sit, but they also draw out color or provide a focal point in the room. Though I sometimes sell myself short, I do like to think that I bring some sort of life to a room and am able to draw out something good in those around me.
