Summer Leagues Update
A few updates from Mixed/"Fun" League Coordinator Dee Jones:
50+ Daytime "Fun" League
Registration opened on April 15, with the league play set to begin on May 17. So far, we have not had any teams register, though we have heard from a lot of interested people who just don’t have a team. I am going to convene a group of folks to consider if we need to adjust the format to field smaller teams, or what we can do to get more teams registered. If you have suggestions, please contact me at
[email protected].
Singles
"Fun"
League
Singles players (or singles wannabes): as we come into the summer doubles season (mixed, combo), don’t let your skills go soft! Sign up for the singles fun league for some competitive play, without any impact on your rating. We'll have a fixed day of the week for play, with reschedules possible because we know that summers are subject to vacations and kids’ soccer schedules.
- Section : Southern
- District/Area: Kentucky
- Area: KY - Lexington
- League: either 18+ or 40+ adult singles fun league
- Flight: your level (you can “play up” one level if you’d like)
…then create a “team” with your name as the team name. If you have any problems,
contact me.
Mixed League
Registration for mixed is off to a great start, and our biggest challenge is that
we need a few more captains, because we have a lot of people looking for teams! If you’re thinking of fielding a team, please get registered as soon as possible, so we can adequately plan courts for the season that begins June 1st.

Don't wait until the last minute!

Captain's Corner
From TACK President Jeffrey Jones:
Let's play nice!
Twice in one day I fielded calls from adult league players who had very unpleasant experiences with competitors. Just a reminder,
this is recreation
-- entertainment, exercise, fun! When on the court, you not only represent yourself, but your partner, your team, your league, TACK, and USTA. If you direct anger at an opponent, you may very well diminish the game by chasing a player off the court and out of USTA. We should do our best to avoid mistakes: bad calls, misdirected hard-hit balls, scoring mistakes. But these things can usually be resolved with gentle queries. If they cannot,
contact us
-- there is a grievance process you can use. Blowing things up on the court will color the whole experience for everyone, and can do damage in unintended ways. Let's play nice!
