TAD Talks
SREC Updates Rules to Enable
Rapid Response
The response to COVID-19 has created a very challenging condition that unfortunately our State Party rules did not fully contemplate. Though there has been discussion for weeks about how we as a Party might need to adapt to these lock-downs and stay at home orders, the State Republican Executive Committee (SREC), by rule, had to meet in person to formally adopt these changes.

This past Saturday the SREC had an unprecedented meeting to officially adopt rules to allow for future remote meetings of the SREC. Members met in Weatherford, TX at a location that was welcoming and allowed for appropriate social distancing. This in person meeting was required to vote on these rules to allow the SREC to be able to respond quickly, and safely, to changing conditions due to COVID-19.

Today (May 9th) the SREC is able to meet remotely to discuss additional special rules in the event of emergency situations. I will continue to provide updates on this evolving situation and how changing rules may affect County and SD Conventions or even the State Convention.
County and SD Convention Alert!!

Since the Governor's announcement of reopening Texas, there have been many County and SD conventions rescheduled. Be sure to keep checking this list of rescheduled conventions or your party's county website for updates!

America Returning To Work
President Trump continues to focus on the health and safety of all Americans as our country begins to reopen.

Thanks to the commitment of the American people and the CDC guidelines, our country has made extensive progress in flattening the coronavirus curve. From the beginning and throughout the pandemic, President Trump has led a decisive and bold response. Importantly, the President took critical steps to secure our border and stop travel from China. Throughout his time in office, President Trump has remained tough on China.

Our country has conducted more than 7.5 million tests, far more than any other country. The President has led the largest national mobilization since World War II to deliver Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and supplies. Over 75 million N95 masks, 112 million surgical masks, 18 million gowns, nearly 1 billion gloves have been delivered to states across the country. By the end of the year we will have 100,000 ventilators and importantly, no American who has needed a ventilator has gone without one. Project Airbridge has completed 100 flights and airlifted nearly 750 pieces of PPE. Additionally, vaccine candidates and therapeutics are rapidly being developed. The President launched Operation Warp Speed to develop a vaccine as quickly as possible. This week, President Trump held events at the White House to thank our country’s dedicated nurses and prayed for the continued health and safety of the American people.

We are now entering the next phase which includes opening the economy and our communities. President Trump and his administration are working with governors across the country – including Governors Abbott and Reynolds who visited the White House this week - to tailor reopening plans that fit their state’s needs and prioritize the health and safety of citizens. Prior to the global pandemic, President Trump built the strongest economy in the world and he will do so again. A recent  Reuters/Ipsos poll showed Americans believe President Trump is better suited than Joe Biden to create jobs and a Biden Administration and higher taxes are not what we need to get our economy back on track. Friday’s jobs report included a lot of heartbreak and hardship, a result of the virus. President Trump’s economic policies gave us a recovery and will do so again.

Protect The Vote
RNC launches new website to highlight election integrity efforts.

As President Trump and the administration continue to offer a bold response to the coronavirus pandemic and safely reopen our economy, Democrats have decided to use the global outbreak to make nationwide election changes. Democrats’ proposed changes compromise the integrity of our elections in an effort to fit their far-left agenda and give them a political edge.

Democrats’ plan would allow any person to return an unlimited number of other peoples' absentee ballots, and in some cases get paid to return ballots. Vote-by-mail and legalized ballot harvesting would greatly expand opportunities for fraud and weaken confidence in our election process.

This week, the RNC recommitted resources to fight back on the Democrats’ efforts to take away every election safeguard. On Friday, the RNC launched ProtectTheVote.com , a digital platform to “protect against the Democrats’ assault on our elections.” The website includes an interactive map showing where the RNC and Republicans are involved in legal efforts across the country. The RNC and Trump campaign also announced the legal budget was doubled to $20 million to fight frivolous lawsuits. The resources will challenge Democrats’ voting-related lawsuits, hold state and election officials accountable when necessary, install a robust Election Day Operations Program (EDO), and prevent intimidation of our voters, political staff, and volunteers. We are all in the fight together.
