Please read this important update on the 2020 TANYS Festival

The TANYS Board of Directors met recently to discuss the status of the 2020 TANYS Festival, in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We discussed the pros and cons, advantages and risks of hosting the annual in-person event in November.

After careful consideration - taking into account the health and safety of our attendees, and the current New York State health directives - the Board made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 TANYS Festival.

But there's good news! In place of our traditional in-person Festival, TANYS will host a virtual online event on the same weekend before Thanksgiving. We're planning the details now, which will include:
  • Educational workshops
  • The presentation of 2020 Merit Awards
  • Some VERY special guests
  • And more!

IMPORTANT: Due to this change, TANYS will NOT be doing any For-Festival adjudications from now through October 31, 2020. Organizational member companies can still request For Learning Only and Technical adjudications through that date, and we will make every effort to fulfill these requests. Please note that the 2021 Festival will return to Rome, NY. If you have any questions, please contact us at

Watch the TANYS website, the TANYS Facebook page, and our Callboard newsletter for more info on the 2020 TANYS virtual online event. If this email was forwarded to you by a friend, and you're not already on the TANYS email list, sign up here so you don't miss any details!

All TANYS late payment fees WAIVED for 2020 memberships

In March, TANYS announced that we were suspending all late payment fees for 2020 Basic level organizational memberships until at least June 30, since most of our members have been forced to cancel their productions or reschedule them - sometimes indefinitely - due to public health orders.

With the financial impact of COVID-19 stretching on for months, TANYS has decided to waive ALL late payment fees for memberships for the remainder of 2020. We encourage any Organizational or Individual members who have not renewed for 2020 to do so, if you're able! And if you're not a recent member, please consider supporting TANYS by joining.

Membership in TANYS provides valuable benefits for you (as an Individual member) and for your theatre company (as an Organizational member). NOTE: all perks for 2020 Producer, Star, and Angel level memberships (free adjudications, free Festival passes, recognition in Callboard, etc.) are good through December 2021!

  • Individual TANYS members are eligible for discounted Festival registrations, access to the TANYS Lending Library, voting at membership meetings, and more.
  • Organizational TANYS members are eligible to request adjudications, receive Roving Adjudicator Merit Awards, be invited to participate at Festival, and more. A company must be an Organizational member of TANYS to request an adjudication.

You can renew/join and pay online - it's fast, easy and secure. Or download a membership form and mail it in with your check. Renew or join now to take advantage of your benefits!

Have you seen the 2020 Merit Awards so far?

Check out the 2020 Roving Adjudicator Merit Awards that have been earned to date in the current cycle (November 1, 2019 through October 31, 2020). Congratulations to all the award recipients so far for your honored work!

*Reminder for contact persons at companies that request TANYS adjudications: be sure to respond quickly when you receive the email notification of your adjudication results, to confirm that names and details are correct for Merit Awards. We want to ensure that we publish accurate info as soon as possible!
