What the Heck is UU Spirituality?
Dates:
6/9
Participants:
Adults, Youth
Leader:
Rev. Abhi Janamanchi
Description:
Where do we find a faith-based community in which dogmatism – whether theistic or atheistic – does not prevail? Where can a person go to explore viable alternatives to the seductive but ultimately unsatisfying message of today’s consumer culture? Where can we find support in living with intellectual integrity, moral responsibility, and mature spirituality? For me, and I hope for you, the answer is self-evident: Unitarian Universalism.
The forum will offer some guideposts to develop the spiritual muscles for nurturing our spirits, healing ourselves, and helping heal our broken yet beautiful world.

Dates:
6/9, 6/16, 6/23
Participants:
Adults, Youth
Leader:
Jim Laurenson
Description:
Unsure of how bad it’s going to get? Angry with “climate deniers”, or yourself? Don’t know what to meaningfully do? Well, join the club! Each Sunday we will explore a different facet of whether or how we each can truly accept what is happening to our planet, our and others’ roles in what’s happening, what we are doing to change it (for better or worse), and how this journey is one of spiritual growth in perhaps one of the most profound ways our species has ever had to contend with. The Environmental Justice Ministry Team and partners will explore with a combination of short films, readings, facilitated discussion, and directed walks in nature. For teens through adults.

Participants are welcome to come enjoy the spoken word and songs of fellow Cedar Laners, and even take a turn yourself! While contributions are often forwarding the causes of social justice and peace, performances are certainly not confined to that. Performers are encouraged to sign up prior to class, by contacting Steve at [email protected], but even if the spirit only moves you that day, drop on by.

Well, here’s your chance. Our Director of Music at Cedar Lane and some of our experienced ringers will guide participants through the basics of making beautiful music with those hand bells. Participants:
All Ages
Leader:

Description:
The Pagans and Celts of 8000 years ago were grateful for a day when the sun and light were visible equally with the dark. They celebrated this boon to the growth of crops, warmth for people, and light for activity. The summer equinox is called Litha. It is one of eight celebrations in the Wheel of the Year, four for Solar events, four for agricultural events. We will discuss these eight celebrations, then conduct a ritual to Litha. All are welcome.
