PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
Dear Members,

Happy New Year to all! Here is hoping everyone enjoyed their Christmas celebrations and stayed healthy through the Holidays.

Our 2021 Holiday Party was enjoyed by all that attended. We had some good music, food, drink and an abundance of lovely raffle gifts. Kudos to Liz Henn for obtaining the gifts along with wrapping and delivering them. And a huge shout out to the talented elves at THE BAYPORT BAKER'S BOX for providing the lovely baked dessert treats we all enjoyed. If you wish to order some for yourself, you can contact them at 631-478-9077 or email to dalefamily82@gmail.com for further information.

A big thank you to everyone that donated toys or money for our annual toy drive. And many thanks to Fran Raupp for delivering them the next morning to Patchogue-Medford Youth & Community Services where they were gratefully received.

Now for the bad news that I don't think anyone will find too surprising. Due to the viral spread of the Omicron virus we are pivoting back to Zoom for a virtual meeting this month. We will reschedule Stan Enden at this time for our April 13th meeting. I am so disappointed that we have to do this but it is the right thing to do at this time to keep our members safe. We are hoping this is just a short pause but we will continue to monitor the situation and respond accordingly. The only ones who will be happy about this is our members who have moved out-of-state.

Hope you will join us on Zoom on the 12th of January at 4pm.

Respectfully,
Susan Bonesso

Disney World's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park will reopen Jan. 2 for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic hit in 2020.
With the reopening will come the return of popular attractions, including the country's largest outdoor wave pool and family raft attraction Miss Adventure Falls, as well as new menu items. At the Snack Shack, guests will find new Dole Whip menu offerings. The famed snack will be offered in mango, lime, raspberry or pineapple flavors. There will be two cones inspired by characters from the film "Moana." Adults can add tequila, coconut rum or dark rum to their Dole Whip.
A new signature cocktail, the Habanero Lime Galley Shack Swirl, will also be on the menu.
There will also be a number of menu items marking Disney World's 50th anniversary celebration, including Walt's Chili Nachos, a birthday cake-flavored ice cream cone (the EARidescent Ice Dream Cone), and a special popcorn bucket and refillable mug.

Scenic is introducing fly-cruise itineraries under its Antarctica expedition program for 2023 and 2024.
Two of the new itineraries will allow guests to partially or fully avoid the two-day Drake Passage journey. The nine-day Antarctica Insights: Fly & Cruise trip will give travelers the option to fly one-way from Punta Arenas, Chile, to King George Island off Antarctica. From there guests board the Scenic Eclipse luxury yacht that will eventually return to Ushuaia, Argentina, at the end of the trip.
The second nine-day excursion, Wild Antarctica: Fly the Drake, lets guests fly both ways between Punta Arenas and King George Island. Flight options can provide travelers a shorter voyage to the continent and allows for more time to explore the region.
Scenic is also launching Beyond the Antarctic Circle, a 16-day cruise-only trip aboard the Eclipse that will offer a more in-depth exploration of Antarctica. The trip heads south of the Antarctic Circle where guests will be able to visit an active scientific base and meet with staff there, along with boarding the vessel's six-person Scenic Neptune submarine.
A series of lectures and other educational opportunities hosted by the Specialist Polar Discovery Team will also be included for those wanting to learn more about Antarctic history, geography and the region's ecosystem.
