TASC Remembers the failed coup attempt of July 15, 2016 in Turkey
On the second anniversary of the July 15 coup TASC organized several activities to remind the American legislators, media and public of the dangers of the instability which may have been caused by such coup.

Two books on the attempted July 15, 2016 coup were distributed to the 435 members of the U.S. House of Representatives. A cover letter was included.

TASC Leaders meet with Rep. Sessions
TASC Co-Chairs had a very productive meeting with Turkey Caucus Co-Chair Congressman Pete Sessions where they discussed the attempted   coup and the current issues between the two countries.
TASC organized a panel in New York:"Two Years After the Coup Attempt of July 15."
TASC co-sponsored the Annual Conference of the Platform Women Conference at the National Press Building in Washington DC.

Several hundred women leaders of diverse backgrounds from across the nation attended to hear speakers discuss women’s rights and women’s empowerment issues. Zeynep Bayramoglu, the conference keynote speaker discussed the problem of women as primary victims of political violence, including women among the 3.5 million Syrian refugees in Turkey as well as women killed and injured in the Fetullah Gulen-inspired military coup.

 TASC was in the skies of Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania on July 15 where suspected coup instigator Fetullah Gulen lives.

TASC Contributes to the Turkish American Grassroots Success in Sassounian Parole Denial

Turkish American and Turkish Australian communities united their grassroots campaign to deny release to Armenian Justice Commandos terrorist Hampig Sassounian, who assassinated Turkish Consul General Kemal Arikan on January 28, 1982.  The web campaign in opposition to Sassounian’s release demonstrated the national and international impact of Sassounian’s crime. As email submissions are not accepted into the Central File, TASC printed and hand delivered more than 1700 opposition letters.

TASC Opposes CA Assembly Bill 1597

The California grassroots organizations and the Turkish American National Steering Committee opposed Assembly Bill 1597, which seeks to divest California Public Employees Retirement (PERS) and State Teachers Retirement System (STRS) from financial instruments issued by the Turkish Republic.

TASC Organizes Interfaith Iftars during Ramazan for the Community
The two Iftars were hosted on May 23rd and June 2nd for the Turkish American community leaders, religious representatives and Maryland legislators at the private dinner room of the Diyanet.

TASC Hosts a Special Iftar for Turkish Foreign Affairs Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu
On June 3rd TASC hosted Turkish Foreign Affairs Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Turkish diplomats and Maryland Officials at a special Iftar.TASC Board members met with the FM separately and briefed him on TASC activities.

TASC and Globart Introduce Ebru programs at Washington Turkish House
On June 15th Turkevi hosted a Bayram Celebration and an Ebru art demonstration. Ebru art lessons will be offered at Turkevi beginning October 2018. More information to follow.

TASC Hosts Goodbye events in June for Deputy Chief of Mission Aydan Karamanoglu and Chief Commercial Counselor Omur Kizilarslan respectively.

Bahcesehir Students Briefed on Law and Medicine Education in the U.S. at the Washington Turkish House
