Aloha Valued Client,
We want to start off by apologizing for any inconvenience and general delays with our responsiveness this tax season. In efforts to gain a little grace, we wanted to offer you some insight as to what our industry is experiencing. The IRS delayed the opening of tax season to Feb 12, which put the entire tax industry one month behind. This caused a ripple effect to the software companies which power our services to you. As you may remember, last week, new tax changes were announced for unemployment, and seemingly each week there has been a change this year. The President approved additional CARES ACT funds, which caused firms to have to pool our labor resources to service PPP and other grant applications for businesses.
We also have an influx of calls related to the stimulus checks, which ultimately we have no control over. And there is no guidance from IRS on how these checks are being issued. It is extremely stressful for us to feel so helpless, with nothing but the same amount of hours in a day to handle the extra load.
This problem is wide-spread in the tax and accounting industry today. So we ask that you please try your best to extend a little grace to your tax professional. We care about each and every one of you, and are working to the bone to try and keep up.
Lastly, given the IRS delays for the second year in a row, we want to set reasonable expectations for our service time frames. As we strive to provide professional services, you can expect contact within a few days of providing documents to our office. However our lead time is about 2-3 weeks to complete your tax return (as is the norm with most CPA firms). This will give us the ability to provide you the exceptional service that you are accustom to and still adjust to our everchanging industry. Please be mindful that the deadline has now been extended to May 17th.
Your patience is greatly appreciated. But, if your email is urgent, please TEXT US at 808-674-0700 and we will look at your email and give it immediate attention.
