News from the TBA
A Message from Brian K. Will, TBA President

October has finally arrived with cooler temperatures and the TBA is right in the middle of NAHB's Membership Drive competition! The competition began September 1st and goes through November 30th. As of August 31st, TBA had 225 full paying members. On December 1st, if our full paying membership is more than 228 our local will receive $50 per each member beginning with 229 and every member above that benchmark.

Membership recruitment is all about "the ask". Just simply ask the person to join the TBA! Why? Because of our Strength in Numbers to have a meaningful impact on issues facing the residential construction industry. Why? Because the lobbying efforts of all NAHB and FHBA members across the country (membership is an automatic three-in-one; local, state, and national).

Looking ahead to 2021, the TBA is planning many opportunities for networking, and opportunities to market your business:
*Membership Directory
*Tiny Homes partnership with City of Tallahassee/Natural Gas Utilities, Rinnai, Florida Propane Gas Association and Lively Technical College
*Golf Tournament
*Parade of Homes Events, including walk through and virtual tours
*Saltwater Fishing Tournament
*Skeet Shoot-out
*Home & Garden Show
*Homes for the Holidays Digital Tour (if your home was not ready for the Parade of Homes event, take this opportunity to market your home and contribute to a community charity in the spirit of the holidays)
*Remodelers Showcase Digital Tour
Lots of great things are happening at the TBA and within our industry!

P.S. October 5th is the deadline to register to vote in the November general election.
As patriotic Americans, it is our privilege and duty to participate and have our voices heard. Get Out the Vote!

Brian K. Will, as TBA President

Navigable Waters Protection Rule a Win for Housing Affordability, Regulatory Certainty
Douglas Davis, a green builder from St. Augustine, testified on behalf of NAHB before the U.S. Senate’s Environment and Public Works Committee last week.
Mr. Davis stated that the Navigable Waters Protection Rule’s (NWPR) straightforward regulatory requirements will ultimately drive down housing costs. Specifically, by clearly defining “Waters of the United States” (WOTUS) to not include man-made ditches and isolated ponds on private property. By removing them from federal jurisdiction it will ultimately ease compliance with the Clean Water Act. Which in the example cited, delayed a project for nearly a decade.
States and local governments still maintain the authority to regulate waters and ultimately have a better understanding of the landscape and needs of their communities, with far more reasonable permitting deadlines.
