Dear TBC Families:
On Sunday, December 11th, TBC kicked off our “A Year of Healing and Repair – A Time for Action” initiative and what a kickoff it was! The excitement, energy and enthusiasm in the room was palpable.
Based on votes from our congregants, we are focusing on three action areas this year:
- Antisemitism and Hate
- Gun Violence Prevention, and
- Women’s Health and Reproductive Rights.
Speakers from Planned Parenthood and CT Against Gun Violence (CAGV) provided insight into their organizations. Jeffrey Busch presented on behalf of the Anti-Defamation League, as they were unable to provide a speaker for us on that date. (We are looking for a date in January when they will be able to join us).
We then broke out into three separate working groups to begin developing plans of action with the help of the speakers and to identify TBC members to champion each group. Toward the end of the morning, we all gathered back together and each group reported on their progress and next steps.
It’s not too late to get involved and we encourage you to do so! TBC Religious School parents are ESPECIALLY ENCOURAGED to join in these initiatives. How we engage and present Judaism’s responsibilities and spirit to our children is a vital part of their Jewish education.
The next meetings of our three Action Groups are currently being scheduled, and, once scheduled, we will share those dates with the congregation, so others can join in their discussions and activities.
