Pastor's Reflections
The Brandermill Church Celebrates the 4th

I want to thank all who participated in yesterday’s amazing 4th of July parade in Brandermill. This is the second year we have had a float in the parade, and this year we were awarded a prize for our float! A special thanks to Heather Nigheim and Nan Johnson for coordinating all the participants in making it an amazing day. A wonderful number of youth helped our presence to be known. Also, thanks to Leslie Dunkin for thinking of hand held fans to go along with the theme of ‘sports’ for the parade. We distributed around 500 fans on the parade suggesting all become ‘Brandermill Church FANS”!

I am excited to continue this Sunday our Sunday Super Hero Sermon Series. This experience has been not only a reminder to me of all the super heroes who have been part of our society, but even more importantly a reminder of the Super Heroes God has given us through the stories found in Scripture. This Sunday our Super Hero will be Wonder Woman, and the biblical Super Hero will be Esther. The story of Esther is truly the story of someone willing to risk with an outcome that is ‘wonder-ful’ for the Hebrew people. I hope to see you Sunday as my sermon title will be “Only Those Who RISK are Free”.

In Christ’s Service,
Dr. Jim C. Dunkin

Parents Night Out!
PARENTS NIGHT OUT! - Who's ready for a night out without kids? If your kids are toilet trained and can't stay home by themselves, bring them to church on Friday, July 20th from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. All you need to do is register them and fill out a permission form when you get here. We will provide the pizza, games and playtime that is totally supervised. There is no charge for this care, but we are taking donations for pizza, water, etc. Just drop them off anytime after 5 p.m. and pick them up before 9 p.m. We will take great care of your kids, just like they are ours, which they essentially are since we are all a part of TBC. To sign up, just email Shawn Nghiem with your child’s name and age, and he will send you a permission slip, which you can fill out at home and bring when you drop off your child. Shawn's cell number is (804)539-2929.

Get Ready for an Adventure!
GET READY for an adventure to an uncharted island
where kids are Rescued by Jesus!

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS! WE NEED YOU!!!   We currently have 155 children registered for Vacation Bible School and we need help during the week of August 5th to share God's love with these young people. There are a variety of projects to do within VBS; from decorating, to making snacks, to being a crew leader, to helping make crafts, to watching our own volunteer’s children in the nursery. If you are age 12 to 99, we have a place for you! Please contact Barbara Flynt or Jennifer Booker TODAY and they will find the correct place for you to serve.

JOIN US for an action packed 5-day VBS experience (August 6th - 10th from 9 a.m. - noon) where kids are anchored in the truth that Jesus carries them through life's storms. We’ll have lots of Imagination Station activities with a daily Bible point reinforced through fun, memorable, totally kid-friendly discoveries. Everyday there will be fun Shipwrecked music and we will have an awesome missions project. Contact Barbara Flynt if you need more info or register today at www.vbspro.events/p/brandermillchurch

DONATIONS! Be on the lookout for the donation board for VBS. We will be collecting items for crafts as well as snacks in the coming weeks, as we prepare for over 150 children and 70 volunteers who will be participating in VBS.

A Giving Nugget

A great method to give toward the church is via your online banking.
If you use online banking to pay your monthly bills, simply set the church up as a
payee. You can then use your online banking to also make donations to The Brandermill Church whenever you choose. Unlike giving through your credit card on the church website, contributions made through your online banking do not cost the church
any additional money in fees. As always, thank you for your generous support of
The Brandermill Church and God's work here!

The July communion offering will support our annual mission trip to Haiti.
Gifts will be collected all month. Please designate 'Haiti'
on your check, offering envelope or online donation.

When making a gift toward the Capital Campaign, please note "Capital Campaign"
in the memo so your gift is properly applied. Thank you!
