Dear TBC Community,

As we prepare for the High Holidays, we wanted to share a few important updates. In the six weeks since stepping into our roles as co-presidents, our focus has been on learning what needs to be done and moving forward with clear goals.

Our number one priority is sustaining TBC and ensuring a vibrant Reform Jewish presence in our area. The only path to achieving this is through our partnership with the JCC. The JCC is currently working with zoning authorities to ensure they can take ownership of our building while maintaining its religious designation.

At the same time, we have been engaging with many of you — and will continue to do so — to make sure our members feel connected and supported. We plan to share updates with you more regularly moving forward.

To keep TBC afloat while we await this transition, we have had to move into efficiency and cost-saving mode. This has meant streamlining religious school based on enrollment by moving to a one-day a week model and reducing a handful of in-person Shabbat services that have historically had very low attendance, helping us save on security costs. These steps, while difficult, are meant to buy us the time we need for the JCC to take over our operations.

Finally, we are committed to celebrating TBC’s legacy as we mark our 50th anniversary year. We will honor this milestone in special ways throughout the year, beginning with next Friday’s Burgers & Brews celebration, continuing with our Yom Kippur Break Fast, and a special 1970’s themed Shabbat in November. These events will be offered free of cost to our community thanks to a generous donor. We encourage you to invite friends and family — it is important that our broader community knows TBC is here, thriving, and working toward a special future.
