Dear TBE Family,
I hope this finds all of you and your families in good health and happiness. My, how quickly 2026 seems to be going, and after a harsh winter, we're looking forward to a sunny spring and summer. The past few months have been busy and brought forth many positive occasions for our temple, such as the very well attended Tu B'Shevat and Passover community seders and Purim services and "The Shpiel." The next few months will bring us this Saturday’s Kumzitz and our Teacher Recognition, Jewish-American Heritage and Pride Shabbats, which we hope many of you will attend, and then, finally, the Summer picnic / BBQ.
Our barn becoming a rental space has been a positive development, too. Maintenance has been improved through the renter, and the change has created a new source of income for our temple. My fellow board members have worked diligently with me in maintaining the various benefits of membership while keeping costs under control, and in some instances, reducing them through better negotiation with vendors.
Earlier this year, the loss of our beloved chief financial officer, Jay Matuk, created a huge void that has not been easy to fill. I, along with Financial Secretary Ellyn Stein, have done our best in managing the temple’s finances, which I am happy to say, are quite stable at this time. In the near future, the temple will be dedicating a memorial plaque to our walls in Jay's memory, and you will also soon be seeing a new memorial board erected within the sanctuary to sustain us in future years.
You were recently sent a "SAVE THE DATE" for our 40th Anniversary Gala on Nov. 22 at The Meadow Club in Port Jefferson Station, which we are all quite excited about. You will receive more details about this fabulous event shortly. Hope to see you all soon and wish you all the best in the days and months to come. We do so much because we're the little temple that can!
Shalom and warmest regards,
Rick Grossman, president
