God's Pronouns: A Discussion led by Rose Myers

Saturday March 14 after Kiddush (12:45-1 PM)

Accessible on Zoom here

Please join Rose Myers to look at how the pronouns we use for God (or their absence) in Jewish texts and prayer can change how we imagine God and our connection to Him/him/Her/her/It/it/Them/them/God/Source of Blessing/Shekinah/Yah . . . .

The discussion, a continuation of January's look at Jewish Feminism, will focus on the tip of the iceberg of Jewish Feminist Theology.

Some topics may include Jewish Women's Archive's article on Feminist TheologyToratah: The Regendered BibleRitualwell's God-Language, and a chapter about God from Judith Plaskow's Standing_Again_at_Sinai: Judaism from a Feminist Perspective at Seffaria.org.

Warming Center

Please consider volunteering this week

The Social Justice Committee will oversee the return of the Warming Center to TBI on Sunday, November 30 through March 22. Our faith guides us to care for the stranger. With tasty hot food provided by Food Not Bombs, we welcome the unhoused and those with food insecurity to our social hall from 1:00-4:00 each week. Good food, a warm and relaxing space, and a movie await all guests! Now entering our sixth year, your help is needed. Shifts are available from 12:30-4:30 to greet, to serve our guests, to help set and/or clean up and, most importantly, to be friendly to all. If you can come in to help, please use this link to sign up: https://signup.com/go/KCXgHdW.

TBI member, Phil Steindel will be coordinating the volunteers again this year and can be reached at phil.steindel@gmail.com. He can respond to your questions or concerns.

Matanot Laevyonim

A central mitzvah for the upcoming holiday of Purim is to share food with those in need.

Here are two convenient ways to do so:

1) Donate to Yad Chesed from now until Purim Day (March 3) or bring cash or check to Purim at TBI. Yad Chesed helps Jews in our area facing food and financial insecurity.

2) Donate canned salmon to the JF&CS Family Table wood bin in our lobby. Thank you to our Social Justice Chair Sue Schy for sponsoring the colorful "fish bags" to take with you and bring back with canned salmon each week!

Saturday Kiddush Sponsors

Please consider sponsoring in February and March.

February 28 - Hadassah Shabbat

March 14 - Diana Korzenik

RSVP's Requested ASAP by Feb. 28 if possible for Havdalah and Hangout above to rabbiben@tbiwaltham.org
