The Pioneering Bamber Family of Russell Street
Sunday November 23, 10:30 AM at TBI (in-person)
following minyan at 9 AM and breakfast
Minyan and class accessible on Zoom here
Before Thanksgiving, celebrate our American Jewish heritage by exploring the story of the Bamber family that lived across the street from TBI on Russell St. from 1865-1884. We'll explore what brought Asher Bamber and his family to Waltham, how they balanced Jewish and American identity, and how Golde Bamber empowered thousands of immigrant Jews and others to find a home in Boston through her pioneering educational and social work at the Hebrew Industrial School and Hecht Neighborhood House.
