Warming Center Begins

The Social Justice Committee will oversee the return of the Warming Center to TBI on Sunday, November 30 through March 22. Our faith guides us to care for the stranger. With tasty hot food provided by Food Not Bombs, we welcome the unhoused and those with food insecurity to our social hall from 1:00-4:00 each week. Good food, a warm and relaxing space, and a movie await all guests! Now entering our sixth year, your help is needed. Shifts are available from 12:30-4:30 to greet, to serve our guests, to help set and/or clean up and, most importantly, to be friendly to all. If you can come in to help, please use this link to sign up: https://signup.com/go/KCXgHdW.

TBI member, Phil Steindel will be coordinating the volunteers again this year and can be reached at phil.steindel@gmail.com and can respond to your questions or concerns.

Irma G: A Century of Hats and Spirit

Mayyim Hayyim's current exhibition, Irma G: A Century of Hats and Spirit, is a powerful meditation on intergenerational relationships and the beauty of aging. This was a shared project with photographer Leann Shamash and her mother during the final year of her life where she photographed her in a century’s worth of hats. This exhibit puts a beautiful elderly woman in the uspotlight, and these images bring up themes of legacy, storytelling, and visibility as well as the entire package of who a 96-year-old woman can be.

Date and Time: Wednesday December 3 Leave TBI at 5:00 to carpool to Mayyim Hayyim or meet us there at 5:30.

Dinner to follow at Clover (835 Washington St. Newton). Pay your own way.

Please email Linda (ulinda@gmail.com) by November 30 that you are joining us.

Shiva Guide Training

Dec. 7 9:30-3 PM at Mayyim Hayyim (lunch included)

Registration required at link here by Dec. 2

Ever wanted to help someone after a loss but weren't sure how? Join Rabbi Ben and fellow TBI members at Shiva Circle's Shiva Guide Training to learn to become a trusted resource for friends and family after a death happens. At this one-day training, you will deepen your knowledge of Jewish mourning traditions, gain strategies and tools to organize shiva, and access a community of volunteer Shiva Guides to share best practices as you support others.

We will follow up with TBI participants to discuss how to apply this learning to TBI.
