A Statement from the Texas Business Leadership Council on the U.S. Supreme Court's Decision on DACA

AUSTIN - The Texas Business Leadership Council's President, Justin Yancy issued the following statement on the results of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to preserve protections for DACA "Dreamers."

"The TBLC welcomes the Supreme Court decision that will safeguard the hundreds of thousands of DACA recipients in the United States. These Dreamers play an important role in strengthening our economy, contributing over $2 billion each year nationwide in state and local taxes. The TBLC looks forward to working with the Administration and Congress to encourage a bipartisan solution that will offer permanent protection to DACA recipients moving forward."

Further, the Texas Business Leadership Council's Chairman for Economic Development added, "Texas is home to more than one-seventh of the 'Dreamer' population and this is the best possible outcome for the Texas economy. With a buying power of almost $3 billion - not to mention their contribution as taxpayers - we need every dollar in the system right now working for economic growth." Serafy added, "Dreamers are a vital part or our state's community and I'm happy that this decision will provide some stability to their lives until a permanent solution can be passed by Congress."
