Shalom friends,

Welcome to TBT's emailed newsletter.

New and fun events keep getting added to the calendar. They are in RED below. Beautiful and inspiring services are always available.   Scroll down and see the exciting things planned for our dynamic and MORE importantly, warm and welcoming community.

The office will e-mail flyers (as attachments) to those congregants who request it.  Please call the temple office, (516) 221-2370, or email Sue-Ellen (spennington@temple-bnai-torah.org) with your request.  Printed flyers will continue to be available at the temple for you to peruse and take home.

Be Part of The Excitement - Register Today!

Join us for a unique and exciting
opportunity coming to a congregation near you.

For the first time ever, all URJ Communities are joining forces to offer a single URJ day of learning in multiple locations across North America.

On October 29th

will take place simultaneously in multiple locations across four time zones. Each location will be hosted by a URJ Community lay leadership team, with the help of URJ staff, and will run parallel programs, enabling with discussions around changing landscape of our world and its implication on Jewish life.

This day of learning will also offer you a special taste of the URJ Biennial by livestreaming an interview with award-winning author and Biennial presenter Anita Diamant, who will be with us in person at our Boston-area event location. Her new book, The Jewish Wedding Now, will serve as a springboard for conversation, using the lens of Jewish lifecycle ritual to consider congregational change in the 21st century.

No matter which location you attend, you'll watch the live interview with Anita Diamant and have the opportunity to reflect on what you learn, to discuss the changing needs of congregational institutions with other leaders, and to begin identifying changes your congregation needs to make in order to be successful 21st-century institution.

Locations include:

*Temple Shaaray Tefila, New York City, NY
*North Shore Synagogue, Syosset, NY
* Temple Israel of Northern Westchester - Croton on Hudson, NY
and many more across the Country

To attend "How Successful Congregations Embrace Change: A URJ Day of Learning" at any of the locations above, register through October 26th . Attendance is $10 per person which includes all program materials, food and refreshments.

Please note: If your congregation isn't within a reasonable travel distance to any of our host sites, consider hosting this event for your congregation.

We hope to see you at one of our many locations on October 29th!

Follow and use the hashtag #URJEmbracesChange for event updates and conversations.

We are considering a congregational trip after the merger, in Spring or Summer of 2019.  We hope you'll consider joining us!

In order to determine where we might go (Israel and/or other Jewish destinations of interest), who might be interested in joining us, and what kind of experience people are looking for, I've created a brief survey.  If you're interested in travel with the Temple, please answer the few questions.  If you're not sure, take a look anyway.  If you know this isn't for you or your family at this time, no need.

The results will be tabulated and if there's enough interest, a plan will come together soon.

If you have any comments or suggestions, please reach out to Rabbi Bar-Nahum.

You can access the survey by clicking here.

Thanks and see you soon,
Rabbi Bar-Nahum

The Board of Trustees voted to adopt a policy regarding the types of foods that will not be permitted inside the Temple or on Temple grounds.  The policy was approved in two parts:

    (1)  No pork products or shellfish is allowed.
    (2)  "Kosher-style" rules should be observed as well.  This means that meat and dairy products should not be mixed or served from the same dish at future temple functions on TBT property.

We request that you respect not just the spirit, but the letter, of this new policy at all times.
