- All adults and teenagers who are eligible for vaccination must be fully vaccinated (minimum of two doses) against COVID-19. We encourage you to seek a booster shot as soon as possible.
- Children under 12, who are not yet fully vaccinated (two doses), are welcome. Your child must be able to wear a mask and follow social distancing at all times regardless of vaccination status. Everyone must wear a mask preferably a KF-94 or KN-95 over their nose and mouth while inside the building. If you arrive in a cloth mask we will ask you to switch to a surgical mask or wear a surgical mask together with your cloth mask. We will have surgical masks available if you need one.

Celebrate Raphael Klauber's Bar Mitzvah!
Join us to celebrate Raphael Klauber’s Bar Mitzvah at TBZ next Thursday, December 23 at 9:00am. Raphael was planning to have his Bar Mitzvah in Masada, Israel and unfortunately they won’t be able to make it at this time; but we look forward to celebrating in community at our own holy site, our TBZ sanctuary. Let Rebecca know if you are planning to join by clicking on the button below. (Ezra is making doughnuts for those who are coming, so we need to know quantities!) We can't wait to celebrate with the Klauber-Weintraub family next week!

Dear TBZ Kehilla,
Just imagine what it would be like to move to a new country, where you did not know a single person, did not know the culture, could not communicate in the language, had no home, and had no money. Then all these people show up – at the airport with smiles, hugs, and transportation, at your new home with food, furniture, clothing, and love. And they kept coming back day after day, week after week to help you get settled. And they found people who could speak your language so you wouldn’t feel so alone.
We are so grateful to all the NBARC and TBZ volunteers who are giving their time, talent, and love to the Afghan family. Included in this effort are many TBZ members. Jenny Berz spent all of Monday with the parents and their youngest daughter at the Boston Medical Center, successfully signing up for Mass Health and the BMC Food Pantry, and making medical appointments. Jonathan Berz, a physician at BMC, assisted with outpatient medical issues at home and stopped by on Monday to support the family. While they were at the BMC, Fiona Epstein and Susan Snider played with the two older girls at home. Dan Kirschner and Sue Kahn head the Acculturation Committee, focused these days on learning how to grocery shop. Jen Wofford will take the parents to the grocery store this weekend to show them how to pick out nutritious food and use their new SNAP debit card. David Vitale-Wolff, a Brookline school teacher, answered school-related questions and helped sort out registration for Heath School in anticipation of January’s start date for the two older daughters. And more is happening in the coming weeks! It truly takes a village!
Our village is strengthened by this Afghan family that brings such kindness, generosity, trust, and ease of life. The father tells his family back in Afghanistan to not worry, that they are being well cared for.

For a long time TBZ has been part of the The Greater Boston Jewish Coalition for Literacy, sponsored by JCRC. TBZ members are matched with students who serve as literacy tutors and mentors for public school students in the Greater Boston area. We are looking for new tutors:
Help a child learn to read in one hour a week - Tutor over Zoom, so no exposure to COVID and no commute time. We need help from 7:30am-9:30am as well as during the school day. We offer training in tutoring and in using Zoom to tutor. If you ever thought about wanting to help transform the lives of children by helping them read, now is the time. As we approach the High Holidays, this is a way you can do Tikkun Olam and help repair the world. Please email Kim Meyers for more information.

Family Table collections are back!
We are now accepting donations of soups and crackers (vegetarian, kosher) for JF&CS Family Table. Let's bring back our habit of bringing one or the other or both each time we come to TBZ.
Many thanks to Elana, Stuart, Maya and Anya Uretzky for subbing for Alan as the TBZ Family Table Site Coordinators!
