Injury screening and rehab clinic

Sunday 6th January

massage

Rupert Cross and Sarah Latham (our Osteo and Massage Therapist) will be running a Injury screening and rehab clinic this Sunday coming.

If you want to find out how they can help you, drop in between 12.00 and 4.00 on Sunday and chat to the experts.

On Monday 7th from 6-9pm Danny Brown will be hanging around the end of the counter with a device that measures your grip strength.  He's planning to do a little bit of research over the coming months so give him a nudge and ask to squeeze his machine!

Adult improver sessions

Starting tomorrow and running every 2 weeks, we'll have a special class for adults who want to move their bouldering on a step.

There will be 6 places in each class, no extra charge and the class will be taken by Simon.

The class starts at 6.30pm and lasts an hour.

Class dates:  4th, 18th January and 1st, 15th February.

Next comps

Sat 12th January & Sun 17th February

laurie

The next comp is again a flash round.  One attempt at each problem and you score the points on the highest hold you get to.

Adult entries from 12.00 till 3.00, kids from 10.00, 20 problems, same cost as usual.

Results from the last comp are here.

The Feb comp is going to be different.

TCA is hosting the 4th round of BlocFest, a series of 5 comps all run in the South of the country.  Check out the video and website.  There will be 25 problems, finals, live music and over 500 in prizes.  There are just 2 categories, under 16 and seniors.

Entries are from 11-3pm for the Juniors and 12-4pm seniors. From 4-5pm  there will be some fun challenges and then the finals will be from 5.00.  Registration and warm up from 10am.

Entries cost 15 for Seniors and 10 for Juniors.  Payment is cash only as it's Blocfest's day.  The costs apply to everyone.

If  you want to go to one of the other rounds, the next one is on 19th Jan at Reading Climbing Centre.

To add a little bit extra, we've decided to show a film afterwards.  Jen Randall works part time at TCA Glasgow and also makes great climbing films.  Late last year she finished her film 'Push It' which has won People's Choice in Edinburgh and was really well received at Kendal.

We'll show the film straight after the comp and we're hoping Jen will be with us to answer any of your questions.

New walls

Just before Christmas we did some work to rebuild part of compound corner and the campus area.

woody

The work's virtually complete now and soon we'll have holds up there. The 45 degree wall is going to be a bigger woody - including some bigger holds that us oldies can hold and the wall to the left of it will be a systems board.

We've got a full set of systems holds to go on and they will create a mirror image, left and right, so you can all see just how weak your non preferred side is!
