Infrastructure a priority for Ontario
The Ontario government put infrastructure high on its priorities list when drafting its 2023 budget, which was revealed on March 23. In a post-budget statement, the government listed relieving gridlock, creating jobs, and connecting communities as reasons for its push to start construction on key infrastructure projects.
Plans for the province include: building a bridge crossing over the future Bradford Bypass; the next phase of construction for the new Highway 7 between Kitchener and Guelph; continuing work to widen Highway 401 from Pickering through Eastern Ontario; as well as moving ahead with plans to build Highway 413.

Canada’s choosing high-carbon imports over greener steel options: CSPA
The Canadian Steel Producers Association (CSPA) is calling on the federal government to take swift action to safeguard domestic jobs and protect the competitiveness of the industry because it is losing market share at an unprecedented rate to high-carbon offshore product being imported into the country.
The CSPA wants the federal government to introduce measures to curb the higher-carbon offshore imports as the situation is very challenging for domestic producers who are aggressively striving to achieve a more than a 45 per cent reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and be net-zero by 2050.
