CCA vaccination policy calls for ‘full range of measures'

The Canadian Construction Association has issued a statement in the form of a letter from CCA president Mary Van Buren discussing the association’s vaccine policy.

Van Buren notes in the Sept. 20 release that the CCA now requires anyone entering the office and anyone participating in an in-person CCA event to be fully vaccinated.

Chandos is latest contractor to announce vaccination requirements
Chandos Construction has become the latest construction giant to take a stand against COVID-19.

Echoing similar announcements made earlier this week by PCL and EllisDon, Chandos has announced that it will require all its employees across Canada to be fully vaccinated as of November 15.

Rebar dumping in Canada decision results in import duties

Afinding by the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) that concrete reinforcing bar was dumped into Canada from seven other countries, causing injury to its steel industry, sends a clear signal to those trying to undermine the regulations, states the Canadian Steel Producers Association (CSPA).

The CITT investigated allegations the countries were illegally dumping concrete reinforcing bar into the Canadian market, in contravention of section 42 of the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA).

Ledcor shakes up leadership

Ledcor Group of Companies Chairman and CEO Dave Lede has announced several leadership moves, effective as of September 14.

Ron Stevenson, who was promoted to President of Ledcor Group of Companies in 2016, will now take on a new role as Vice Chairman, Ledcor Group of Companies. He’ll support the company’s major operating groups in their strategic pursuits. Stevenson has been with Ledcor over a half century and has served on the Board of Directors for 37 years.

RFQ issued for Scarborough Subway Extension project

The Ontario government has issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) for the three-stop Scarborough Subway Extension project in Toronto, marking the start of procurement for a stations, rail and systems contract.

Following the receipt of qualifications, Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx will evaluate the submissions and announce a shortlist of qualified proponents in early 2022, stated a recent release.

Stantec awarded global architect-engineer services contract by the United States Agency for International Development

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, has been selected by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to provide global architect-engineer (A/E) services through a five-year, US$800 million multiple-award task order contract. Services under this agreement include planning, design, rehabilitation, and construction supervision for the development of schools, health facilities, and energy, water, sanitation, agriculture, and transportation-related infrastructure.
