Bird Construction to build Ontario Power Generation Clarington Corporate Campus

Bird Construction will lead the first phase of the engineering, procurement, and construction at the Ontario Power Generation (OPG) Clarington Corporate Campus. Construction is expected to begin in 2022, with completion in 2024.

Once complete, the campus will consolidate non-station staff from existing OPG offices across the Greater Toronto Area, Niagara, and Durham Region.

Turner expands its AI capabilities

Turner Construction has signed a multi-year enterprise agreement with California-based technology provider Versatile which will expand the deployment of Versatile’s AI-powered CraneView solution.

Turner, which participated in On-Site‘s latest construction technology webinar, will experience improved data gathering capabilities on its jobsites across North America thanks to this agreement.

Lower premiums will allow employers to invest more in health and safety: RESCON

The Residential Construction Council of Ontario (RESCON) is pleased that the province is reducing WSIB premiums as it will enable construction employers to put the money towards making worksites safer. Labour, Training and Skills Development Minister Monte McNaughton announced that the WSIB will cut premium rates in 2022 by $168 million, bringing the total reduction in premiums since 2018 to $2.4 billion.

Ground breaks on new mixed-use development project in Vaughan

Menkes Developments Ltd. and QuadReal recently broke ground in a ceremony marking the start of construction at Festival, the four-tower community which will be the largest in the heart of the burgeoning Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC) and include the tallest building tower in the City’s centre. The 59-storey tower, which will be the tallest residential building at VMC, will anchor Menkes’ and QuadReal’s master-planned redevelopment of the 5.5-acre community, bounded on the north and south by Highways 7 and 407, and Hwy 400 to the west.
