Please note due to TCA staff being at the Construct Canada Tradeshow held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (South Building) document orders placed on December 1 to December 3, 2021, will only be couriered out on December 6, 2021

Orders placed between today and November 30, 2021, will be couriered as next-day delivery. 

We will be closed for affidavit and notary public service from Dec. 1st to Dec. 3rd, however, you are able to visit us at the Construct Canada Tradeshow for these services. We will be located at booth 1313 in the South Building

Ontario aims to attract young people to the skilled trades

Facing a projected shortfall of 100,000 construction workers over the next 10 years, the province of Ontario is stepping up its programs aimed at attracting the next generation of young people to the trades.

On Wed., November 24, 2021, the province announced an additional $90 million in funding over the next three years to further promote the skilled trades to students. In addition to providing pathways to rewarding and lucrative careers in the trades, the funding of programs will also help employers find the workers they need to grow their businesses and drive the economy.

Canada disappointed with U.S. final softwood lumber duty rate, says trade minister

International Trade Minister Mary Ng and B.C.’s lumber producers say they are disappointed that the U.S. Department of Commerce has decided to increase duties on Canada’s softwood lumber producers.

The U.S. government said Wednesday that its final combined anti-dumping and countervailing duty rate for most Canadian producers will be 17.9 per cent.

That’s slightly below the 18.32 per cent preliminary rate issued in May but double the initial 8.99 per cent rate.

PCL, Pomerleau join forces for innovative collaboration with Spot

Earlier this month, PCL and Pomerleau Construction took part in the first phase of a multi-step collaboration, bringing a ruggedized robotic dog to Cadillac Fairview’s 160 Front St. project in Toronto.

The purpose of the collaboration, which was done along with Latium, Intel and Microsoft, was to bring digital transformation and innovation to jobsites.

Gordie Howe International Bridge project wins IHSA award

The Infrastructure Health and Safety Association (IHSA) has presented the 2021 John M. Beck Award to the Gordie Howe International Bridge project.

The award, presented at the IHSA annual meeting, recognizes the contributions that project-based Joint Health and Safety Committees (JHSC) in the Ontario construction industry has made to health and safety in the previous year.

Toronto to Build World’s First Fully Digitally-Enabled Building and Then Tear it Down

Ryerson University wants to build the first 100 per cent, digitally-enabled building in the world, only to tear it down in the years to come.

Detailed back in March in a funding announcement, the Ryerson University Smart Campus Integration and Testing Hub (SCIT Hub) would “enable the exploration and testing of ‘smart building’ products and management strategies” that could help in offsetting climate change.

COVID complications cause new Ottawa library costs to skyrocket

Building a super library from scratch can be complicated and costly under the very best of circumstances.
