TCA Wins Best Innovative Practice Award from the American Counseling Association
|
|
Pamela Love-White, TCA Past President, Cyndi Doyle, TCA President, and Carrie Proctor, TCA President-Elect accepted the ACA Best Innovative Practice Award.
|
|
When Hurricane Harvey devastated the Texas coast and flooding decimated Houston, TCA quickly changed its Educational Endowment Fund (EEF) policies to authorize $6,000 in grants to help members rebuild their practices and replace resources to support their clients and students.
Because of your generous donations to the EEF and our innovation, creativity, and flexibility, we were able to get resources quickly to those in need.
TCA was recognized nationally for this initiative and presented the Best Innovative Practice Award from the American Counseling Association on April 23 in Atlanta.

Wellness Update: Work on your Fitness
#4Mind4Body
during Mental Health Month
|
|
Mental Health America leads the observance of Mental Health Month each year and this year the theme is
Fitness #4Mind4Body, highlighting the link between mental and physical health.
This theme focuses on how a healthy lifestyle may help prevent the onset or worsening of mental health conditions, as well as heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and other chronic health problems. It can also play a big role in helping people recover from these conditions.
So much of what we do physically impacts us mentally. Paying attention to both your physical health and your mental health can help you achieve overall wellness and set you on a path to recovery.
A few key areas that have a big impact on both mental and physical health are:
- Getting the appropriate amount of exercise can help control weight, improve mental health, and help you live longer and healthier.
- Learning about recent research that connects your nutrition and gut health with your mental health and the importance of focusing on incorporating proper nutrients into your diet.
- Sleeping: Sleep also plays a critical role in all aspects of our life and overall health. Getting a good night's sleep is important to having enough physical and mental energy to take on daily responsibilities.
- Lowering stress can have a huge impact on our health, so it’s important to take time to focus on stress-reducing activities like meditation or yoga.
