| | TCA 3rd Annual Boat Cruise—Recap | | |
The TCA Boat Cruise once again brought together the construction industry for a memorable evening on Lake Ontario. Since first setting sail in 2019, this summer tradition has become a fixture in the TCA events calendar, consistently delivering an atmosphere that blends networking with relaxation.
Guests enjoyed an easy flow from daylight into sunset, and finally, an evening under the stars—complete with conversation, laughter, and the Toronto skyline as a backdrop. Known for its more relaxed and upscale appeal compared to the high-energy YCL Cruise earlier in the season, the TCA Boat Cruise offers members a chance to connect in a stylish, comfortable setting.
As summer turns to fall, attendees can look ahead with anticipation—August 2026 promises another opportunity to gather, celebrate, and make the most of this enduring industry tradition.

We are thrilled to announce a new partnership between our Young Construction Leaders (YCL) Committee and the Pinball Foundation!
The Pinball Foundation empowers marginalized and racialized youth by providing access to educational resources and pathways that support their integration into the broader community. Their ultimate goal is to see these young people thrive—entering the workforce with confidence and building meaningful careers that align with their passions and aspirations.
As part of this partnership, our YCL Committee will be hosting a Mentorship Day on September 11, 2025, where youth will have the opportunity to join us on exclusive construction site tours. Building Construction – Putting It All Together
(Understanding a Project’s Life Cycle)
Every road that you drive on, every school that you attend, every office that you work in and every hospital that you receive care at was designed and built by the people in the construction industry.
Construction is a team effort with owners, contractors, architects, and subcontractors performing key functions throughout the lifecycle of a project. This workshop delivers a step-by-step review of the project lifecycle, from initiation through close-out, with specific attention to the unique roles and responsibilities of these stakeholders at each phase of the project.
Project Initiation → Design → Tendering → Pre-Construction → Construction → Project Closeout → Owner Occupancy
Throughout the workshop you will understand the processes and procedures of a construction project and how they all fit together by examining the roles and responsibilities of the primary stakeholders as it all relates to the following:
| | |
Introduction to the Industry
- Construction sectors
- Stakeholders and their roles in the construction process
- Different stages of construction from development through design
| | |
Project Initiation – The Owner’s Perspective
- Financial planning
- Feasibility studies
- Functional programming
- Design and engineering

Mississauga’s M3 condo the tallest residential tower outside Toronto
Rising to 82 storeys and standing at 258 metres, M3, the third in the M City development, is now the tallest residential tower in Canada outside of Toronto.
Crews recently celebrated the topping off of the third M City tower, which is being constructed for Urban Capital/Rogers by EllisDon and numerous subcontractors.
Overall, the M City development is a multi-phase master-planned community that is reshaping Mississauga’s downtown core and will be comprised of eight towers, 15-acres, and spans 4.3 million square feet, states the M City website.
The M3 condo blends residential, retail and office space.
In order to build M3 to its towering heights, there is a hidden engineering innovation near its peak, reports EllisDon.
There is a 705-tonne tuned mass damper (TMD), the largest of its kind in Canada. A pendulum-like device, it is used primarily in the supertall skyscrapers of New York City and is engineered to counteract the natural sway caused by wind. The TMD plays a critical role in preserving the building’s long-term structural integrity.
EllisDon states the vision for M3 was made possible through collaboration between Virtual Design & Construction (VDC), Oxford Builders and Construction Sciences.
