Applications Open for Ontario Small Business Support Grant

The Ontario government has opened applications for the new Ontario Small Business Support Grant. Small businesses required to close or restrict services under the Provincewide Shutdown effective December 26, 2020, can apply for this one-time grant.

Eligible small businesses include those that:

  • Are required to close or significantly restrict services due to the Provincewide Shutdown being imposed across the province effective 12:01 a.m. on December 26.
  • Have fewer than 100 employees at the enterprise level.
  • Have experienced a minimum of 20 per cent revenue decline in April 2020 compared to April 2019 revenues. New businesses established since April 2019 are also eligible provided they meet the other eligibility criteria.

The grant provides a minimum of $10,000 and a maximum of $20,000 to help small business owners during this challenging period.

CCA Release Statement Amid Rising COVID-19 Rates

The Canadian Construction Association (CCA) issued a statement on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, calling on members to stay vigilant amid the rising COVID-19 cases emphasizing the urgency in following worksite health and safety protocols and general public health measures.

Mary Van Buren, President of the Canadian Construction Association, said, “It is vital to Canada’s health and economy that our strong track record of safety in the first wave continues into this second and potentially more challenging wave.”

TCA Virtually Commissioning Statutory Declarations For Members Only
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, TCA is now commissioning statutory declarations virtually for our members.

If you require the signature of a commissioner of oaths, the virtual commissioning process will be as follows:

  • Email us at statdec@tcaconnect.com to set up the video conference.
  • Commissioning staff will ask for identification in order to verify the member's identity. Have your picture identification ready.
  • Once confirmed you will sign the Statutory Declarations while the commissioning staff witness. You will then need to scan and send it by email.
  • Once received, the commissioning staff will print and verify the signature that they witnessed and if everything is satisfactory, they will sign and email it back.

The Mission of our Young Construction Leaders Club (YCL) is to develop an informal communication network among construction industry future Leaders up to 40 years of age, in order to:

  • Promote networking relationships within the construction industry.
  • Develop a forum to establish industry contacts and business leads.
  • Provide information, industry activities and opportunities that will enhance and profit the individual and their respective organization.

One of our most important focuses is acting as a mentor and resource to the next generation of bright young minds that are entering the industry.

Meeting Spaces for TCA's Members

As part of your membership benefits, TCA allows you to book one of our meeting rooms for free to host your next meeting/workshop or seminar. However, due to COVID-19, please note that we have suspended the use of all of our meeting rooms until further notice. At TCA, we value the well-being of our members and staff and want to ensure that you know your health and safety is our top priority.
A free affidavit service is available to members requiring the signature of a commissioner of affidavits and oaths. There are five signing officers at the Toronto Construction Association office location. In light of COVID-19, TCA is now commissioning statutory declarations virtually for our members. Revitalization & Redevelopment of Cassellholme [East Nipissing District Home for the Aged]

Cassellholme, East Nipissing District Home for the Aged is a 240 bed not-for-profit home for the aged located in North Bay, Ontario. Cassellholme serves citizens from North Bay and the surrounding communities, including East Ferris, Bonfield, Chisholm, and more. 

As part of the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care ("MOHLTC") Long-Term Care Home Renewal Strategy, Cassellholme has opted to redevelop the facility's existing 240 beds.

  • One hundred eighty-four have been designated by the MOHLTC as C-level beds, while the remaining fifty-six were designated B-level beds.

  • Cassellholme has been approved for an additional twenty-four new long-term care ("LTC") beds, bringing the facility total to two hundred sixty-four, which is helping to address the demand for services in the area and provincially.

  • The additional beds have also provided opportunities to optimize the efficiency of the new facility's design. 

Phase One can be completed with minimal impact to the existing home. The North Tower elevator addition will occur at the start of Phase For this procurement process, the "RFP Contact" will be: CassellholmeRFP@procurementadvisor.ca.

This project estimated value is $34 million.
