Small Business Health and Safety Leadership Awards Applications are due on Friday, July 9, 2021
|
|
Each year the WSIB recognizes the health and safety achievements of independently owned and operated businesses with fewer than 50 employees. This year they invite small businesses to tell them about their unique health and safety success story from 2020. We all know it’s been an incredibly difficult year that’s affected small businesses in countless ways, and the WSIB wants to recognize all of the efforts made – whether they’re big enhancements or small changes – to improve workplace safety and help your employees and customers feel confident and safe.
The top three businesses will receive a monetary prize: $5,000 (gold), $3,000 (silver), $2,000 (bronze), and be recognized at a WSIB awards ceremony in November.
To learn more about eligibility requirements and how to apply visit the WSIB website, here.

Richview Pumping Station and Reservoir Rehabilitation and Standby Power
The City of Toronto issued a RFQ tender for the rehabilitation of the Richview Pumping Station and Reservoir located in Richview Park.
This work will include waterproofing the reservoir roof, structural rehabilitation, and building new Standby Power to the facility.
The Richview Pumping Station supplies water to 300,000 residents in north and central Etobicoke. The reservoir was constructed in 1963, the pumping station in 1968 (expanded in 1991). This facility is at the end of the life cycle with no previous major upgrades. This rehabilitation work to protect drinking water supply will last for another 50 years. This project is part of the City's 20 year capital plan to rehabilitate their existing water supply facilities.
This work is expected to be completed by Summer 2023. During construction, five (5) soccer fields will be closed for public use. The City has contacted regular permit holders to make alternate arrangements. Soccer Field #8 (see map) will be closed during Winter 2020.
Estimated Value: $40,000,000.
