Thank YOU for making our first Summer Sizzler Networking Event a great Success!
Despite the high chance of it raining, over 140 members attended the first-ever TCA Members-Only Summer Sizzler Networking Event.

The almost sold-out event was held at the beautiful Radisson Admiral Hotel in Downtown Toronto on Wednesday, August 7, 2019. Guests enjoyed an evening of delicious food, magnificent views of the city's skyline and lake, and an opportunity to mingle and network with industry peers to build meaningful professional relationships.

A massive thank you to everyone who participated and helped to make this event a memorable one and a remarkable success!

TCA's 25th Annual Members' Day Recap - THANK YOU for Attending!
On Wednesday, May 8th, over 200 members attended TCA's 25th Annual Members' Day!
 
The day kicked off with breakfast and an industry forum, where our keynote speaker Chris Gower, Chief Operation Officer, buildings, PCL Construction , discussed how Technology is reshaping the construction industry. During his presentation, Chris shared the three ways to keep up with the rapidly changing pace in the construction industry: incorporating modular construction, collaborative procurement approaches, and technology use.
After the session ended, members had an opportunity to exhibit their product(s) and service(s) and focus on networking with other business professionals.
  
At noon, guests enjoyed a delicious BBQ Lunch and music on the lawn, while mingling with old and new friends. 

This year’s door prize giveaway was an Apple Watch Series 3. Congratulations to Ms. Nadya Teja from ConstructConnect, on winning the grand prize!

A huge THANK YOU to the members who participated and made this another beneficial and successful members’ day. We look forward to hosting YOU all again next year.

TCA's Annual Golf Tournament Recap - THANK YOU for Attending!
The TCA Annual Golf tournament on Thursday, May 16th at the Angus Glen Golf Club was once again SOLD OUT with a total of 288 golfers attending. Everyone enjoyed a wonderful day on the green, tremendous weather, door prizes, and a BBQ Lunch with a cocktail format dinner. 

After 12 years serving as the entertainment committee chair, Brian Endacott, Construction Manager, EllisDon Corporation, stepped down as Chair and passed over the emceeing duties to Tim Meana of Walsh Canada who is the new incoming Chair for this committee.

YCL News: YCL Annual Boat Cruise - RECAP!
Despite the rain, over 190 YCL members turned out for the Annual Networking Boat Cruise on Thursday, June 20, 2019 - our biggest boat cruise yet.

After registration was wrapped, attendees boarded the Yankee Lady III (docked behind the Radisson Hotel) and set sail for an exciting evening filled with lots of fun, delicious appetizers, and entertainment.

YCL News: 2019 MLSE Team Up Challenge - RECAP!
YCL Impressively Raised Over $96,000
in Support of MLSE LaunchPad!

On Friday, June 7, 2019, our Young Construction Leaders (YCL) Committee participated for the fourth year in the 7th Annual MLSE (Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment) Team Up Challenge, presented by Ford.

YCL had its most successful year to date, raising an impressive sum of over $96,000 in aid of MLSE LaunchPad - a facility where youth facing barriers use sport to recognize and reach their potential. On the day of the event, over 100 YCL'ers participated in five sports: road hockey, soccer, basketball, beach volleyball, and beach dodgeball. 

The YCL Committee has now raised a substantial amount of over $235,000 in its four years since partaking.

There are five signing officers at the Toronto Construction Association, as well as 1 signing officer at our Mississauga office location. Registration is now open for the Canadian Design-Build Institute’s (CDBI) conference October 17 – 18 in Montreal and tutorial day on October 16.

Join over 150 delegates representing the design and consulting community, contractors and private-sector owners. Schwartz Reisman Innovation Centre West-Commissioning


Construction of the new Schwartz Reisman Innovation Centre is set to begin this fall on College east of Queen’s Park Crescent, replacing the existing Banting and Best Complex. The 750,000 square foot complex will be designed by New York-based Weiss/Manfredi Architects alongside local firm Teeple Architects. The first phase will be a 250,000 square-foot, 12-storey tower that will be home to the Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence. The second phase will be a 500,000 square-foot, 20-storey tower.

The University of Toronto received a substantial donation of $100 million from Canadian billionaires and philanthropists, Gerry Schwartz and Heather Reisman – the biggest ever for the Canadian innovation sector.
