Liebe TCGIS Alumni and Alumni Families,

As we head into the last week of school, and think about all the transitions and miletones our alumni are experiencing at this time of year, we wanted to share some exciting things happening at TCGIS with you!
8th Grade Capstone Trip to Chicago
Our 8th graders just returned from a re-imagined Capstone trip to Chicago. After having to cancel the Germany trip for the third year in a row, we found another way for 8th graders to travel together and mark the end of their TCGIS education with a memorable experience.
Our German partner schools are planning to visit us next September for two weeks. We are "pressing our thumbs" that the Capstone experience will return to normal after 3 years of cancellations due to Covid!
SC Paderborn 07 visited TCGIS
The SC Paderborn 07 soccer team visited TCGIS yesterday! Following school tours led by 8th graders, players visited students in their classrooms for Q & As and then played a fun scrimmage match, with teams made up of both Paderborn and TCGIS players. We were beyond excited to host our second German soccer team at TCGIS (Hertha visited TCGIS in 2019). If you plan to attend the SC Paderborn vs MNUFC match this evening, you'll surely run into many TCGIS families!
Our "Garden of Gratitude" and Annual Fund Goal
We are less than $4,000 away from making our Annual Fund goal of $110,000! Since May 1st, families and supporters donated over $21, 450 and 'planted' over 150 flowers in our Garden of Gratitude in the cafeteria (below).

If you would like to make a gift in honor of your TCGIS alum(ni), a favorite teacher, or in honor of TCGIS Co-Founder Mary-Fred Busman-Watkins, you can give here. Your generosity directly supports our mission of innovative education of the whole child through German immersion by funding the Intern program, our incredible library and curricular materials from Germany. Vielen Dank!
The Intern Program is Back!
We were overjoyed to welcome back 9 Interns in our first intern cohort since Covid cut the last one short in March 2020. The semester has flown by and it's hard to remember TCGIS without these wonderful young educators among us. Our students, staff and families value the creativity and engagement they each bring.
We are still seeking 6 host families!
Eleven new interns arrive around August 19-22 and we are still seeking 6 host families. Are you - or an alumni family you know - interested in hosting an intern? You can "meet" next fall's interns here! Please email Katharina Schirg with questions or fill out a Host Family Application.
Visit with TCGIS at Deutsche Tage this Weekend
We will have a table at the GAI's fabulous Deutsche Tage event this weekend! If you attend, please stop by and say hello. We love to hear about what our alumni are doing post-TCGIS! We'll have TCGIS yard signs and magnets for sale, too!

Parents: please share with your alumni student(s)
Since we do not have direct contact information for many of our alumni students, we would like to ask you to share this email with your alumni student(s). Thank you in advance! Vielen Dank im Voraus!
