Message from the Principal
Liebe TCGIS Gemeinschaft / Dear TCGIS Community,
One week from today our doors will be open to families and students for our Back to School Night. We have this night so that students can meet teachers, see their classrooms, and hopefully calm some of the uneasiness of starting school for our kindergartners and new students or coming back to school for all of our returning students. That means that summer break is ending and a big transition is about to take place. Because students can experience anxiety during transitions, talking about the impending school year and Back to School night can help ease worrying, little minds. I hope you have been getting excited about the school year with your students. Pointing out exciting experiences like new friends, new teachers and new classes can begin to frame the transition is a positive light.
I look forward to welcoming you all back to TCGIS for the 2023-2024 school year. It’s going to be a great year!
Genießt die letzte Sommerferienwoche,
Elizabeth Zehnpfennig, Principal

One of our newly-hired elementary school teachers arrives in Minnesota today and is seeking a short-term host family or very affordable room to rent from now until October break when he moves his family from California to Minnesota. Proximity to school or to public transit is vital since he won’t have a car until October. If your family is able to host or if you have a room you could rent to him for an affordable price, please contact Kim Reid (kreid@tcgis.org) as soon as possible. Herzlichen Dank! Thank you!

Volunteer as an Eltern Kontakt (EK) this Year
| |
Eltern Kontakte (parent contacts), or EKs, are parent volunteers who provide an additional communication channel between the teacher(s) and the parents in their child(ren)'s homeroom/grade.
Each homeroom and grade-level have 1-3 EKs who work together to support the class or grade-level teachers, connect parents with each other and help strengthen our community. Managing the voluntary grade-level Family Contact List is also an important part of the EKs role.
Much of this fun volunteer position can be done remotely since it primarily consists of communicating via email. If you're interested in volunteering as an EK this year, please fill out this brief form. Vielen Dank!

The TCGIS Math team offers regular practices and opportunities for students to compete against other schools in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
